joe loved fighting Cans too. narrow points win yup. he'd never hurt canelo with his featherfists but he might get a fake tko in Cardiff given to him by his best mate ref. and then run from the rematch.
if you hit anyone with anything for half an hour they bleed. lacy had chin enough for joe, but not enough to prevent him getting stopped versus 40something. 40something hits harder than joe. besides me being right, u ought not to complain I said joe wins.
before bika fought calzaghe he fought marcus beyer for the super middleweight title and was winning the fight when the ref stopped the fight and declared it a draw. i did the round by round on esb for that fight . bika was a big muscular 6 foot fighter and carried up to 168 easy calzaghe was always built more like a swimmer than a boxer / natural strength more than muscles. ward similar to calzaghe albeit ward boxed at light heavy in the amatuers. calzaghe and ward both beat bika because they were better not because they had size advantages.
i reiterate both ward and calzaghe had to dig deep to beat bika who gave them both tough fights bika is a tough man. ward did not cruise to a points win / it was tough crude and ugly fight with two billy goats clashing heads repeatedly. calzaghe v bika was exactly the same both were wars of attrition despite the scorecards both being wide in wards and calzaghes favour.
We have seen Canelo outboxed by Mayweather, Lara, Cotto (at times), Khan (at times). What in the world do you think a SMW/LHW who was a volume puncher, would do to him? It would be a near shutout for Calzaghe.
This shows you did not watch the fight. Those cards for Ward-Bika were an absolute joke. The result of that fight was much like Canelo-Cotto, it was a competitive fight that should have been scored in the 7-5 range but the cards were so wide it was sickening. Ward was in an absolute dog fight against Bika. Calzaghe had no easy time either, but won a clear decision.
the scores are the scores. just shows you are in denial that ward had an easier time versus fullyfledged SMW bika than joe did with green bika from MW. keep denying, but u seen the fight, you'd know that's true. kinda weird you saying I hadn't seen the fights with that in mind!
the ward v bika fight was many years ago now and i only watched it once at the time. from memory it was a very ugly foul fest ward was cut over both eyes / there were untold fouls in the fight / headbutts by both fighters and bika landed hard on ward with ward getting the fight behind his jab but not able to land much else. as with calzaghe/ bikas wild style did not gell v ward and it was as i reitterate yet again a war of attrition. i have watched boxing for many years and fights like these are not or should not be described as 1 fighter cruising to victory no matter what judges say. IMO bika to this day would have been wards hardest most physcial fight of his whole career . bika is an awkward /strong /uncorordited fighter / where smooth orthodox boxing is not always easy.
:thumbsup I haven't seen you post often in the last bunch of years, but I see the quality of your posts is as good as ever!
