Stop this Ward rubbish. Ward needs so much time and multiple tune ups to step up 7lb to fight Kovalev. Example of the hypocrisy when it comes to Golovkin and some of the things said about Golvokin and Ward. Hopkins is saying Ward should wait TWO YEARS to fight Kovalev although Hopkins this week said he believes Golvokin should ignore Canelo and step up 15lb and fight Kovalev now and "dare to be great". The Golovkin bashing is getting beyond ridiculous.
Ward has been inactive and he's moving up in weight not only that he's taking on a monster in Kovalev. Atleast he dares to be great unlike GGG. Lastly, no one is saying that GGG had to for his first fight at 168 go right at Ward atleast I never said that he could have taken a couple of fights to get used to the weight but then he should have fought Ward after that.
But it's perfectly acceptable for Hopkins and others to suggest this 175lb "monster" to a 160lb middleweight? Ward hasn't dared to be great yet, he fought at 168 against the best in the division in a super 6. Since then what has Ward done to dare to be great? He can't make 168 anymore, that's not daring, that's basically being forced up. If Golovkin had fighters like Froch, Kessler, Abraham at 160 and hadn't fought them I'd be bashing him but he is head and shoulders above the rest of them at 160 so to compare Ward and Golovkin in terms of resume if slightly unfair considering the strengths of the divisions at respective times and all Ward achievements to date have been at 168 and not multiple weights. Ward was head and shoulders above the other 168 fighters, he was fortunate that the division had other very good fighters. If Ward was in a super 6 now, this minute would he get the same amount of credit beating Ramirez, Badu Jack and DeGale? 168 is weaker now in my opinion, it's about timing and era's, some are strong and some are weak, I don't think you can blame any fighter that their division is weak.
lets put it like this every guy ward has beat GGG would also beat and not only that he most likely knocks them out
Yes he dared to be great. He entered the Super 6 as an underdog when the favorites were Abraham and Kessler. He's once again daring to be great by moving up and facing Kovalev which was a done deal when Ward signed that contract with HBO. Ward went on record saying he could make 168 to fight GGG and if GGG had dared to be great and accepted to fight Ward at 168 he would have made weight and fought him there but he didn't. With that said I agree 160 is weak and 168 isn't great either but atleast the guys are all naturally bigger than him and he would get more credit if he wnt uop there and destroyed guys at 168 then no one could say ****. Degale would be a great scalp and so would Jack much better than guys at 160 that's for damn sure.
Too bad he doesn't share your same confidence otherwise he would have moved up and proved it. Instead he's fighting no hopers like Monroe Jr and Wade at 160.
Alex you have to agree GGG is upheld to a standard no one else is they expect him to go to 175 and fight kovalev and he is a 160 fighter and not even a big one and ward can have about 5 fights at light heavy before even thinking of fighting kova? why did ward not jump up straight to 175 and fight kovalev? ward himself said he needed time to get use that weight and he was not ready
Just stop, the nonsense has to stop at some point, no ? Fmj is 40 yr old shell of qhat once was, you just cant live happily without feeling fmj can and would lose to someone
Well Ward fans care when Hopkins praises Ward, when he talks him up they quote that. They've quoted him when he said he'd favour Ward over Golovkin. So I guess it all depends what he is saying and who is talking about :good
Because he's 40 and retired...and clowns like you would relish in a possible win over an old Floyd as if Floyd were prime...when and if he lost.
I agree with you on the 168 division being stronger, 160 is rather weak but if Golovkin stepped up now and went through the lot of them people would say "it's a far weaker division now". I don't see major value stepping in to that division right now when Canelo is close and a far far bigger money fight than anything he could get at 168 although I agree the wins would look a little better if he was at 168. If Golovkin gets the Canelo fight and wins then I fully expect him to move up because there is nothing else there. But there is no Ward, Froch or Kessler up at 168 now, Porky Medina just gave DeGale a tough night so I don't think Golovkin will get that much credit if he steamed through 168 anyway, people will start to insist he moves to 175. Mayweather (who you are a fan of) has said on many occasions "the right fights at the right time" and "it's all about timing" so maybe Golovkin is doing just that, we will see.
The only reason ward moved up to 175 is because he could not make weight and was forced to move up to get a payday He himself said that he could not get the big fights and he could not make weight thats why he moved up this is not greatness greatness is when you can make weight in the lower div yet you still move up do you agree?
