Ruiz was never champion. Neither was Maskaev. Ali Spinks Ali Holmes Spinks Tyson Douglas Holyfield Bowe Holyfield Moore Foreman Briggs Lewis Rahman Lewis Wlad Fury
The point I was trying to make is that even with Joe's legendary engine, I don't see him keeping up the activity necessary to keep Tua off of him non-stop. Eventually Tua I'd going to find more spots to load up on hooks and combinations, if he doesn't blast Joe out early, before he can get started.
Your book is old, my friend. Ruiz was UBER LINEAR, which means he had 24 hit points and a Sprig of Belladonna for magical incantations. Best to re-up on your knowledge, old-timer.
For every Ali and Quarry on Frazier's record there is a: Ziggy Daniels Stander Davis Connor Doyle Leslie Polite Smith Johnson Jones Wipperman Goss Bruce Staples Davis Turnbow Q. How many top ten ranked heavyweights did Frazier beat? A.Five.
Tua was strong and had a good chin but a Glass Mind. I don`t think Frazier would KO Tua or even knock him down but he could hit him with a lot of hard punches and I believe Tua`s punch output would start to drop as the rounds progressed. The body attack of Frazier was so consitant and relentless I could that being a factor as the rounds wore. Does Tua have a puncher`s chance? Well he could certainly hurt Frazier and possibly knock him down but he would never keep Joe down.
You're kinda being an aszhole... but I get it. However, after Lewis retired, V. Klitschko and Sanders fought for the vacant WBC belt and Ring Magazine considered the winner the Heavyweight Champion of the World. V. Klitchko gave HW Champ Lewis a very tough fight and Lewis never fought again despite winning the fight. Sanders had beat W. Klitschko for the WBO belt but later vacated that title. Anyway, V. Klitschko won and was considered the HW World Champ but a large portion of the civilized world.. and even some of the uncivilized world. After he beat Sanders he beat Williams in late 2004 and then took almost 4 years off. During his time off his younger brother gained recognition as the HW Champ of the World... in 2008 after he beat Ibragimov. Briggs? Sure he beat Foreman (I thought Foreman won) but Foreman had been stripped of the WBA and IBF belts because he didn't want to fight their mandatory challengers. Ruiz? He is a 2x WBA HW World Champ, never the HW World Champ though. Maskaev was the WBC HW World Champ. He stopped Rahman in the 12th round of their rematch to win the belt. Not the HW World Champ though. Moorer and Rahman were lineal HW Champs, no doubt. Ernie Terrell? WBA HW Champ Jimmy Ellis? WBA HW Champ Ken Norton? WBC HW Champ What about Marvin Hart and Tommy Burns? I say yes... Jeffries came back after a 6 year retirement... life goes on, when Hart beat Jack Root in 1905 he became the Champ.
Four? :huh If you are going to ask a question and then supply an answer, why not try to provide the correct answer? :-( I'm not going to bother looking it up, but I'd bet the house that Bonavena, Ramos, Quarry, Chuvalo, Ellis, and Ali were all Top 10 when Frazier beat them. That is SIX right there and Frazier beat two of them twice. In addition to those listed above, Bugner was coming on when he met Frazier and may have been Top 10. Possibly Mathis too. And I might be overlooking someone. In any event, well more than "Four".
Terrell, Ellis, Norton, Ruiz, Maskaev, were NEVER worlds hwt champion. Absolutely no right to the true championship. You cannot strip the true worlds championship so YES Briggs beat the true champion when he beat Foreman. Burns beat Hart. There is a logical thought that Root and Hart were the leading contenders when they fought for the championship once Jeffries retired.
Anyway, some people can say they were a lineal World Champ and some can say they held a world title belt... it doesnt mean that every World Champ was better than every fighter who only held a world title belt. Briggs was a joke and he didn't even deserve the decision against an ancient Foreman. He has one of the weakest claims to the lineal HW title.
Alvarez is the MW World Champ but the man hasn't even fought with the 160 Lb. Limit in place and he is going to be the underdog if he ever fights Golovkin (hopefully Sept. 17th). My point? Being the recognized World Champ isn't what it's cracked up to be sometimes.
