I doubt he even takes the fight tbh Ward if he for some miracle signs to fight sergey will be in a fight for his life and will be pummeled hard to a KTFO moment He has no plans on fighting kovalev the only reason he might do it is because he is forced
Michael Spinks was one of the best fighters in the world and lineal Heavyweight Champion when he did what could be described as "cashing out" against Mike Tyson. Spinks like Ward had been largely inactive and taking fights that were said to be "tune ups."
That could be true but I doubt it, even if it was, what does financial security have to do with cashing out? I have heard Khan was well off and didn't need to cash out, but that is what some said he did.
I agree Hopkins has advised Ward to not fight Kovalev for TWO YEARS I don't care about all this "contracts have been signed" there will have been clauses to somehow wriggle out of it. It's getting clearer by the fights Ward is having that he has no intention of fighting Kovalev.
OMFG.... You made a post contradicting your ridiculous and annoying username and pathetic posting/trolling style. You actually made an objective post irt to Spinks career as a HW, having been twice gifted in title fights vs Larry Holmes who essentially lost his titles due to his boasting of greatness, coming out of era filled with heroes thus making enemies in the sport. While I don't doubt that Ward believes there is a way to beat Kovalev atm, and I honestly believes in his talent irt to said fight, I'm still not 100% buying into this fight until Ward is actually being instructed by the ref while Kovalev stands menacingly across from him. I'd add that indeed Spinks knew his HW title run was a sham, from the gifts vs Holmes thru his **** poor LOC leading up to his big money fight with Tyson..... In all honesty, I agree it was an obvious cash out, though I don't believe that if Ward actually DOES fight Kovalev, that he will lie down the moment Kovalev throws a hard shot. atsch
That could be true or maybe you just didn't read well enough or simply misunderstood the trolling concept you have applied to me but in no way I can personally confirm or deny. I disagree to an extent. That is your opinion which might be true. But that could happen.
That's completely different, would be comparable to if Ward signed up next to fight Tyson Fury. Ward would be the favourite over anyone from 168-175 and that includes Kovalev, if he anything like his former self.
I'm not saying that is not comparable but Ward isn't exactly the lineal Heavyweight Champion with two defenses under his belt. But if Ward isn't anything like his former self, which he may not be, or could be. We don't know.
