I was 17. Came home drunk. Watch Lewis destroy Vitali's face. Ran around celebrating. Threw up. Went to sleep. TKO6.

Lewis fans resorting to politics like talking points. One punch caused the cut and that's why Vitali was a bloody mess yet those fans are celebrating that technicality. Lewis won on a technicality. Shouldn't Lewis have beaten Vitali straight up? That was a rematch that had buzz, folks were still talking about it 3 years afterwards. Lewis wasn't past it, he had a few more in him. Usually the better fighter wins the rematches if that's truly the case.
I'm sure you same guys are promoting Breazeale who won in similar fashion over Mansour. Such a legit win by "stoppage" that's hyping his career right?

no u r entirely wrong about 38 year olds, they need to retire from title fights not box on.

I agree. If by "he" you mean either Lewis or Vitali got beat, depending on your definition of "Beat."

    What a fight that was.

I was on ESB back then. Under a different account name. If you think the arguments over this fight are bad now, you should have seen it then.

A great fight that confirmed the legitimacy of Vitali and the heart of Lewis. I'm sure Lewis wishes he had fought Wlad instead.

When the fight took place, I'm pretty sure Wlad was considered to be the "better" of the brothers.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that Lewis' camp thought Vitali would be the "easy" Klitschko fight.

I guess I didn't make it very clear but what I really meant was Lewis could learn a lot from Tyson's general attitude towards his fellow fighter rather than compare those two scenarios which you rightly point out as unrelated. Lennox just doesn't give anyone else credit and doesn't take responsibility for his loses, its all lucky punches with him. He doesn't have the charm or wit to pull off arrogance and be likeable with it, but I guess he doesn't care really.

While he was fighting it didn't bother me as much but when a fighter retires and mellows a bit you would think they would become more humble and be a bit more real about things. Not Lewis though and I find him insufferable to listen to these days, I wish I didn't as I used to be a big fan, but listening to him talking about himself is cringe.

He really belittles fighters and still goes on about the Tyson leg bite, dropping the "warriors don't bite" dig, when they meant to be pals these days! Let it go Lennox. I guess I go on about it cause it disappoints me a bit, I was hoping Lennox would be a bit more likeable in his old age, a bit less of a show off

yep pretty much. Even if he reeled it in a little it would have helped, but he was in full d-I-c-k mode that night. He just couldn't accept Vitali was having some success. Its a shame in my view cause Lennox fought so bravely, he was a punch away from getting flattened but he powered though and won, but his attitude killed for me personally.

interesting post... suggesting lewis learn respect for his fellow from the man who wants to bite him and eat his babies.

rather like suggesting Jews learn respect for their fellow man by attending the next Auscwhitz Open Day.
