meldonium takes several months to leave your body, on top of it only becoming a banned substance a few months ago. you cant retrospectively ban someone, especially when only tiny insignificant trace elements were found in he's system

hope the people involved come to there senses and can see that this is ridiculous and its obviously an over sight. The fans want this fight, the world wants this fight , if anyone backs out no its a ***** move:good

I don't agree with your last sentence and I would like to hear an expert's take on how long it takes to leave the system but the rest of your points are fair.

They've known since October it was being banned, no way it's still in his system 8 months later.. that's some bull****.

This is his promoter and the guy who won the purse bid talking, which means it's all bull****.

Povetkin is now cheater who got caught.

    **** him.

Also, the drug maker says several months, that doesn't mean 8 months... and that doesn't mean Povetkin just "tried it" like his promoter says.. he was USING it.

The athletes taking this stuff we're taking medication they didn't need to enhance their abilities. THAT'S CHEATING.

If a new steroid is developed using it before ts banned doesn't make you any less of a cheat than someone using something already banned in my eyes.

statement, that it did not believe meldonium’s use should be banned for athletes. It said the drug worked mainly by reducing damage to cells that can be caused by certain byproducts of carnitine. Meldonium “is used to prevent death of ischemic cells and not to increase performance of normal cells,” the statement said. “Meldonium cannot improve athletic performance, but it can stop tissue damage in the case of ischemia,” which is lack of blood flow to an area of the body.[70]

From the Wikipedia page actually doesn't seem like a major drug. Interesting case
