I had not seen anything but the KO yet so I went in with certain expectations due to seeing a week of forum posts and opinion vids but no real footage

I must say I didnt think Khan was ahead and I didnt think Canelo looked as bad as many on here said. The fight reminded me of a less interesting Khan vs Garcia bout. Khan started off with a very flashy offense with fast combinations to the head and Canelo very patient and economical with his shots seemingly behind.

I thought Canelo had a good first round he landed 2 left hooks clean one glancing and a right to the body. Khan had a good 1-2 right away but then it was a lot of ineffective missed punches. Khan maintained a distance but Canelo slipped a lot of what Khan threw. I thought the first round was pretty tight.

Round 2 went to Khan but 3 felt pretty even til a solid right by Canelo with a bout 23 left on the clock, Khan got in a snappy right down the middle but I dont think his punch was quite as effective. Harold gave the round to Alvarez I thought it was pretty close.

Alvarez despite being out worked fought a good fight in my opinion. He started with the left hook, then when he waited for Khan to slow down/timed him through observation he corralled him into the right to the body and eventually used the right to the body to set up the left hook to the head.

I knew the fight was over once Alvarez's jab began to land and he straightened his right to the head and body. It seemed like Alvarez finally had him figured out. Max pointed out Canelo was slowly taking over and Jim earlier predicted Canelo would hurt him to the body then finish it with a head shot and he proved right as much as i can hate on lampley.

    final take away:

Khan was not up 5-0 and could reasonably have been seen down 3-2

The most telling image of the fight was Khans bruised ribs, Canelo patiently worked for the stoppage and stayed poised despite a fast opponent and a lot of pressure to impress

This was a mismatch, many said this would be a brutal KO and it was brutal

Golovkin should be favored and I dont think Canelo gets any real boost besides a bank account boost and a nice highlight real KO. Fight kind of seemed like a sparring session, neither guy had much offensive success then bang, fight over

Quick stoppage. Khan would have beat the count and boxed Canelo's ears off

I think most people had it 3-2 for Khan (first 3 rounds)

Then Canelo round his range and his bodyshots slowed Khan down alot...

by the sixth round Khan was looking rather uncomfortable unable to get in without taking shots then booom.

possible but it was hardly a dominant 3-0, reminded me a little bit of Jermaine Taylor moving and throwing flashy combos but not really landing much of it and getting a lot of credit for it

Honestly, I have trouble seeing 3-2. I only see it 4-0 Khan going into the 5th. 5th was the only hard one to score IMO. 5th was a close one for Canelo, but I can see some giving it to Khan.

Very good post. I didn't have Khan winning, but he was brave enough to take the fight before getting put in a casket.

Your expectations were set far too high and after a week of anticipation it didn't quite live up to them. Therefore skewing and biasing your opinion, you were expecting to see Khan beating the hell out of Canelo for 5 rounds straight, when you should have been expecting to see Khan landing one twos while on the backfoot and getting out of there without taking too many flush shots in return, he won round 1 and 2 and edged 3 and 4, 5 was close to even and the wheels came off in the 6th.

Khan wasn't really landing anything effective. He throws these shoe-shine, flimsy shots that seem designed to see just how fast he can move his hands but really do nothing to a professional boxer. I had Canelo up 3-2 and thought Canelo's defense was vastly underrated. By the fifth and sixth, Canelo was completely out jabbing Khan. Canelo looked very good in my eyes and I can't wait to see him in there with GGG.

Khans got prob the worst punch recovery iv ever seen. Gets knocked down hard bell rings as he stumbles to his feet. Full minute in the corner to re collect stands up an still looks like he drank a slab of beers on the way to the fight
