Its a basic supplement that helps blood flow to the heart, its like testing positive for taking gummy vitamins or fish oil supplements. You guys are acting like he tested positive for a real steroid.

No it isn't or they would have banned it way earlier than jan 2016. It has been out since the 1970's...

It's actually epo2.0. They banned it because it helps blood and oxygen flow more freely. Thats the definition of a ped meat

Yea, it doesn't do anything which is why it's now banned. They gave years of warnings and a deadline. And why there's 13 Russian/Easterns medalists who were caught. Yea ok. Why 127 eastern euros were caught while competing... it's just coincidence.

You should probably do some research before you start threads making false claims.

It's true that it isn't a steroid, but it's a whole lot more powerful than vitamins or fish oil ffs.

"Meldonium appears to inhibit a substance in the body called l-carnitine. Normally, l-carnitine transports fatty acids to the mitochondria, where they are burned for energy. “But by blocking the availability of l-carnitine, meldonium forces your mitochondria to metabolize glucose for energy instead, which requires less oxygen,” she explains. This decreases oxidative stress and cellular damage while making your body use energy more efficiently."

So basically meldonium blocks the body from burning fat for energy, and instead makes it burn glucose which uses less oxygen. It allows the body to perform more efficiently, increase endurance, and reduce recovery time.

Show me a vitamin or fish oil supplement that can do that...

Just because it has been around since the 1970s -- it was developed as a heart medicine -- doesn't mean athletes have been using it since the moment it was created. I'm sure it took years before someone discovered it was a good way to cheat -- cheaters are always looking for the next EPO.

It isn't a coincidence that dozens upon dozens of top-level EE athletes are mainlining this stuff.
