Don’t you have to actually win a title to be a Champion? How can someone hold a belt and say your champ without ever earning it in the ring? With Canelo Vacating the WBC Title, then shouldn't the Title be “Vacant” for a period of time and fought for?

If GGG is WBC Champ now, without winning it in the ring, then whats stopping me from walking around town with a cardboard box over my shoulder with WBC written in black marker claiming I am the official WBC MW Champ?
