In the Canelo - Khan post fight press conference, Canelo said he personally had no problem with fighting GGG at 160. He specifically addressed that question. Do you know anything concrete that Canelo specifically demanded a catchweight since then?

It seems to me that you are saying Canelo demanded a catchweight without any proof of it. Were Canelo vs GGG negotiations even underway? Wasn't Canelo on vacation for the normal 2-3 weeks fighters get after they win a big fight? My guess is while on vacation, Canelo was insulted at that deadline of May 24th and decided to vacate the belt rather than put up with any more disrespect.

I don't care what it seems to you. Canelo did first demand a catch weight (which led to legions of haters saying Golovkin is ducking if he doesn't fight at 155) and now he has vacated his belt.

Those are two factual events in recent history.

I know you're not stupid enough to blame Golovkin for either of those.

May be the WBC can create a special division for Canelo - "chickenweight"...

First of all, I wasn’t one of those “legions of haters” saying GGG is ducking if he don’t fight at 155. Second of all, when exactly did Canelo “demand” a 155 catchweight for Golovkin? That was never a factual event, in fact the whole time we’ve heard how Canelo “only” fights at 155 which is false. Canelo has never “needed” to make a fight at 155. When he fought Cotto, Cotto demanded the 155. When he fought Khan, Khan needed 155 to make the fight. (not Canelo) Before fighting Cotto, Canelo fought at 155 because that that point Floyd Mayweather was holding the 154-belts hostage so he had no reason to make 154 so he came in at 155.

Throughout all this Canelo has been disrespected and blamed for stuff that he had nothing to with, all the while he’s making fights that no one else does. Aside from Lemieux, GGG’s been fighting tomato cans while Canelo’s been fighting the biggest names and the most avoided fighters in boxing. But after Khan, in the post fight Canelo said he had no problem fighting GGG at 160, so what gives? I can’t speak for Canelo’s handlers, but I don’t think DLH or anyone else at GBP would go against what Canelo wants to do.

I’ve been saying for a long time that Canelo should fight GGG at 160 for a number of reasons. But I was also okay with Canelo fighting Khan at 155 because Khan was fighting at 147 and that seemed like a fair compromise given that Khan was coming up in weight and 155 benefitted Khan and Khan said he wouldn’t have fought Canelo at 160.

I’m bummed because I was expecting Canelo vs GGG at 160 in a few months.

I’m not blaming GGG for any of this, but at the same time it’s a joke that this is how you become unified MW champ. I blame the WBC, I blame Sulaiman for putting extra pressure on Canelo to make the fight by May 24th.

I think Canelo was well aware that the public and the commissions wanted to see him fight GGG next, and if he didn’t he probably would be stripped of the title. This despite the fact that he’s never fought at the full 160 before, well that is a lot to give away to GGG. Still I believe Canelo was willing to do that, and come to the table in the next few weeks to make that happen, but the disrespect by the WBC to demand he make the fight by May 24th is inappropriate. Then for Sulaiman to straight away just crown GGG as the WBC MW Champ as if he’s been interim champ all along makes it even worse.

The rules are the rules, Golovkin was promised a fight with Cotto, but Cotto refused, paid a step aside fee, after that duck by Cotto, Golovkin became the mandatory for the winner of the WBC title. El Pollo knew the rules and agreed to it. They were going to fight Sept. 17th, but El Pollo chickened out. The kid is extreemly afraid and is shows. My prediction was correct...................160 lb. title, you have to fight your mandatory, and yes, a middleweight, not a Jr. Welterweight, or Welterweight.............

It's not his fault is it? I personnaly think GGG is great, something special. It really sucks for us, boxing fan, to not see him fight great opposition. Let's be honest, it is obviously not his fault that other fighters are avoiding him. Lemieux fought him, and he wants to fight him again sometime!

Our human history is replete with armies surrendering to a superior force. And it just repeated itself today with Canelo/GBP dropping the coveted WBC MW Belt at GGG's feet. This story won't go away anytime soon.

Has Canelo / Goldenboy actually officially even made a catchweight offer to GGG ?

    I don't think they have

So all this " GGG should take the fight at 155-157 " is a bit of a nonsense cause no one knows if that was even put on the table officially

Lets let Canelo go back to being a LMW if that's what he wants to be, hopefully GGG can get the WBO belt then move up

So why do they not get GGG to fight the next highest contender for the vacant title?

Can't blame GGG , but can't credit him either.

He now has all these titles and still not a note worthy name on his record.

Vacant straps don't hold up to the test of time.

Lemieux was the only legit champ he beat to win a title and even he was a paper titlist himself having just won the strap through vacancy against a nobody.

  11. actually someone surrendering and telling you please don't hurt me is better then beating him up

True, in that moment. Because you get to live another day. But immediately afterwards, you will be known forever as a coward.

Yet you refuse to hold anyone accountable for their fear of getting into the ring with him . Everything is Golovkins fault, lol what a cry baby
