Canelo is a disgrace

Not really

He's making all the right business moves

He'll be filthy rich with a few more middle weight belts by the time he retires

 

Boxing is a competitive sport, but if he wants to run his career that way, fine, he'll just have to do it without the respect or acknowledgement from the fans.

 

Well, we’ll just have to see how this plays out before we can determine who to give respect and who not to respect. As it stood, many people already disrespected Canelo for defending the MW title at 155. (even though his opponents were demanding that weight) Many people called that a disgrace.

So there ya go, he vacated the title many were criticizing him for holding since he wasn't defending it at the full MW limit. Are you happy now? Apparantly not.

 

Come on. Most boxing fans want to see ANY man defend his title against the best in his division, not turn it over without a fight. About as simple as it gets. Great for GGG, but really bad for Canelo's/GBP's image.

Not Great for GG b/c that’s no way to acquire a title let alone unify a division.

Not a good look for the WBC, not good for boxing, not good for Canelo either at least here in the short run until we see how this plays out.

Canleo doesn't need GGG. He was not going to negotiate a fight with GGG on his terms, it would have to be on his. I don't blame him to hell with GGG he can pick up another meaningless belt that he didn't have to even fight to get and unify a dead division like he's done something. Mean while his resume still sucks and he's still looking for that big payday and Canelo is moving on with more options and more money.

 

I agree it's not ideal for anyone. But in general, a boxer with the title should defend against his mandatory, with no special clauses (weight reductions, etc).

 

You don't want to see the Alvarez - Golovkin fight simply because you want to keep bashing GGG because of his "weak resume". You are not a real boxing fan.

 

I wan't to see it but only if it's done right and that's on Canelo's terms. He's the draw here not the other way around, he calls the shots. GGG needs to pay his dues. I'm tired of him thinking he's better than everyone else and the rules don't apply to him, uppity mother****er.

Done right, Canelo's terms?? Why should we support boxers making their own rules, which go against the established rules of boxing; namely that title fights are fought at the prescribed weight limits. I'm not trying to punk Mayweather, but he influenced lots of fans by making them think that boxers are somehow above the sport. This is ridiculous. You don't have Serena Williams say to her opponent "hey, I want different court dimensions that suit me only, because I'm the A side." That's just stupid. The rules exist. Just follow them and try to be the best within those rules. That's how we define greatness. When boxers try to change rules, it makes it hard to support them.

 

What terms exactly? Golovkin has to agree on fighting at 155? You want to see Alvarez vs drained to a zombie GGG?
