He did the right thing IMO. It was a mismatch anyway. At least he freed the belt. He gave it back to the division it belongs. It was a nice thing to do. Now Golovkin can fight more worthy opponents, like Chris Eubank jr, Billy Joe Saunders, Daniel Jacobs.

Its not as bad as Floyd ducking Pacquiao for 6 whole years. Its not worse than holding the 154-lb titles for 2 years without defending them. Its not worse than trying to drain Canelo down to 150-lbs. (after saying the year before how he doesnt do catchweights when he fought Cotto at 154)

Honestly I'm shocked, if any UK fighter did his I'd absolutely hammer him, imagine if Brook said "dropping my belt because Spence isn't big enough over here in the UK, I'm the champion, I'm the a-side" I would slaughter him, I'd go in even harder on Brook because he is shaming the UK.
