Canelo knew about the deadlines long before he faced Khan. He has only himself to blame. He stepped into a division he wasn't ready for, picked up a HOF victory but realised his limitations, I applaud the WBC for forcing his hand.
Nobody seems to respond directly to your question. It is odd how it is vacant he has to fight for it. I thought he'd have to fight the next in line for it. :think
I have no explanation. I don't think I could look at someone the same who dumps on GGG under these circumstances.
I didn't realize how bizarro-world this board really was until I saw people blaming Wilder for wrecking that fight and people blaming GGG for this.
Yes he was. Golovkin won the interim WBC championship on 10/18/2014 when he beat Rubio and has held it and defended it ever since. Canelo fought Cotto in 2015 for the VACANT title after Cotto was stripped for not paying santioning fees. I agree that the real title should now be vacant and Golovkin should probably have to fight probably Daniel Jacobs for it since he is the highest rated available opponent. The real problem is that the WBC should not allow champions to dodge real #1 contenders and should not have alternate champions while a world champion is reigning. Martinez should have fought Golovkin instead of Cotto. Cotto should have fought Golovkin instead of Alvarez. Alvarez should have fought Golovkin instead of Khan.
He was interim champ and Canelos mandatory. The WBA are the same if a title become vacant the 2 top rated contenders in that org should fight for it(I think the IBF do that). Anyway it is what it is.
