I think vacating the belt has little to do with fear and everything to do with getting the fight on his terms. He fought Cotto for the title, who's not a middleweight. Then defended it in a cash grab fight with little risk relative to the reward.

I agree with everything you say on why he vacated the belt, however i still think it is a load of utter bull. I think Canelo has been pretty much brain washed into believing this nonsense by Oscar. Oscar just does not think Canelo is strong enough to take on the better Middleweights let alone the best of them. But neither of the Mexicans could ever come out and say that. Oscar is the one who is really scared. Scared his money maker will lose a bit of value if he got smashed up by a Middeweight. So pick on the small guys

As for the 2nd part, this fight aint ever guna happen. If they were that willing to give up the belt and even more so the money from the biggest fight to be made in the sport then that just shows how commited they are to not fighting GGG. If there was any belief from Oscar that his man could beat him this fight woul be happening.

So they are still fully on the same course as far as i can see, 155 and no legitimate full time top 10 to top 15 Middleweights.

Sorry but Fat Dan verified with the WBC that in the situation of an Interim Champion which GGG is the purse split is indeed 55-45 IF the fight goes to a purse bid.

Sorry, I was wrong. The mandated purse split was only 55-45 in favour of Canelo because GGG was interim champ.

    ...

Golden Boy could ask for 70/30 and Canelo wouldn't have to vacate. K2 would have to take it or back off from the fight. Let's move on from this 55/45 nonsense. That was never A THING in these negotiations and it's certainly not the reason why Canelo vacated. Get a grasp of the reality. Oscar didn't want Canelo to face GGG and that's the ONLY reason why they vacated.

Canelo has never weighed i more than 155 for a fight. Yes he fights within the limits of the MW division by one pound, but he is yet to fight at the 160 limit or anyone who has weighed in at 160.

Not sure that Canelo struggled to make weight? Where did you read or hear this? From other ESB posters? Obviously he draines himself, but that is nothing new for any boxer. Canelo gains about 17 pounds while Golovkin usually gains about 13 pounds. But neither an indication that he's "struggling". Can you provide me with your source.

 Canelo has had ONLY ONE sanctioned MW fight. He has never fought at the 160 limit, and has enough guts to fight the toughest fighters at 154, one pund below Caneloweight.

    :nut

Youre post got more foolish as you continued typing and allowed your emotions to get the best of you, yet again. :patsch

At 25 years old Canelo has fought higher caliber opposition than GGG, has fought higher caliber opposition more consistently than GGG, has more fans and has made more money as a result, and will probably have a more decorated career considering his age an progress.

You sound bitter, I thought you Golovstans just cared about the tainted WBC belt.. well he got it, move on :deal

He has no belt now. And his marketing ability took a huge hit.

If you have the middleweight belt, the rules say up to 160 pounds on the weigh in.

Canelo has plenty of time to prepare if he wanted too!

It's a clear duck, and one that many saw coming. His next fight will be for less money that he would have made vs GGG.

What about the WBC mandatory that Bumlovkin inherited from Canelo?

No, Canelo's a dumbass if he thinks that he somehow improved his position in ANY possible way. Moneywise, GGG is due for the champion's 70-30 split. Weight wise Golovkin can tell him to take his 155 and swivel on it. Golovkin is now officially "THE MAN" at 160 by default of Alvarez' cowardice / stupidity and he will be the one dictating terms. Guys like Eubank, Saunders and Jacobs are queueing up to fight Golovkin, and he's going to be plenty busy for the next while. If this was de la Hoya's idea Saul should punch him in the face. He just scre wed him big time.

Because getting his azz handed to him by 3G would destroy his market value. Losing to Floyd is one thing, you can always say he is TBE, but Golovkin is a true rival, career suicide!

GG didn't want the fight to go to a purse bid. The majority of Russian fighters need title shots in their backyards. They ask for more than what they're worth on purpose so that the fight goes to a purse bid like Jupiter brained Povetkin. His ***** ass got the fight in Russia AND tried to cheat lmfao...

He should've just went back down to JMW after beating Cotto. He has fought north of JMW by 1 pound since than. That leads me to believe he should still be able to make 154 lbs without any issues.

As far as Golovkin, I do feel bad for him that it looks like he's being ducked by the best of his division but that's usually what happens when you're a great fighter in your weight class. No one in your weight division is willing to fight you unless it's for an exorbitant pay day. Now I'm interested to see if he'll continue pursuing Canelo or if he sticks to his word and continues attempting to unify the MW division. He said he didn't care who had the belts, he just wants all of them. His team should be targeting Saunders for a date in the fall, possibly in the UK where both men could stand to make a lot more money.
