Yes, it's a considerably shorter end for Golovkin (both in weight and purse) but he has to think of it as a long term invesment. While I really don't care to see this fight much because it's a mismatch, if this is the fight that can cross-over Golovkin's name to bigger and better fights, then let it be.

With Canelo dropping the belt, this fight lost some of its initial appeal but still has plenty left.

At 155lbs, the fight actually might be somewhat competitive. Golovkin will lose some power, chin and stamina. However, I still think he would spank Canelo.

Then we can finally have an actual MW defending the lineal title as it's meant to be defended. Until he moves to 168lbs.

Boxing fans can hope but I have a feeling the GBP has no interest in this fight whatsoever. Even the 155lbs demand is a bluff, IMO.

 

If Canelo wants to act like a Diva then GGG should stop wasting his time with him and go after BJS and Jacobs. Even Eubank would be a better direction than Canelo.

155lbs. fight is a good option for both fighters now:

Golovkin crosses over, gets a career payday, and as an improved draw he can finally offer some elite fighters good money and beating, instead of just the beating.

Canelo gets a chance to actually beat Golovkin with 155lbs advantage. Saves his face and Mexican pride. Gets well paid for doing it.

Why suddenly GGG should drained himself to 155 now that he has the belt? Canelo can go **** himself. This guy is clearly a 160 pounder that use the 155 pound excuse to duck GGG knowing that he will refuse that stupid catchweight. As soon as GGG moves up to 168, Canelo will magically fight at 160 saying he can't make 155 anymore.

To fight at 155 you may as well go the whole hog and just fight at light middleweight
