Frankly, I expected much more, but after I saw the match against Takam, I only can say that Parker is not (not yet ?) on the highest level. I am not sure if he deserved UD, this is very questionable. He has nothing to do with Joshua (except cash). It would be "a piece of cake" for Joshua.
if he had gotten the chance for some low hanging fruit like Martin or Glazkov or someone like Stiverne, he already would have been.
I've been saying this for a while now, his freakishly short arms will be a nightmare for him when he goes up against guys live Fury, Joshua, or Eilder who all have an 80+ inch reach
Parker is also alot of lighter than i imagined. First fight iv seen of his watched live and I wasn't very impressed to be honest
I am so disappointed, don't expect competitive match by the end of this year. I think Parker is on b+ level (very solid, but no great) and I can't see the way to go 12 rounds against Joshua.
Takam has 80+ inch reach. I agree, Parker isn't ready to be champ yet but this fight went almost exactly as I expected.... Parker had the edge but it was a war, weaknesses were exposed but even with them he was able to get the win and keep the forward momentum. I also expected that people underestimated Takam (as opposed to overestimated Parker) and I'm relived Parker was able to get through despite the weaknesses in his game. What was good though by my eye is Parker proved his chin and his heart, the holes in his game he has can be ironed out and the things you can't teach he already has. Good result for right now and plenty to work on, I think the best is yet to come and with a year of working he could still prove to be a problem for Joshua. I think it was a decent result and he deserves to be considered top 10 material, but homework to do before looking at making a claim on the title. Looking forward to seeing how he learns from this. Be interesting to see how Joshua goes if he gets a test at this level before he fights Parker
You guys do know Takam is a better win than anyone on Joshua's resume, right? If Parker fought the Whytes and Martins of the world, everyone would be saying he was the greatest. Now Parker meets up with Pulev. That one will be even tougher.
Parker was decent, solid and nothing more. It was his first test on the highest level, he won the match but he showed a lot of flaws, and I've never underestimated Takam...So, just now I think Parker is somewhere between top 10 and top 15 HW....And, again - Joshua will destroy him...easily...
At the moment I don't think he wins a title but he is still only 24 and will improve if he can get the right people behind him. I just hope they actually work on his flaws.
Parker skipped too many levels, in my opinion before he fought Takam. He isn't ready yet. But there's nothing to say he can't improve on his weaknesses.
...oh, Wilder! For a moment I thought you were seriously overrating Eléider Álvarez (who only has 75½″ reach anyway :yep)
What's not to like. We have another HW in the top 25 that will put on some good fights. While I would love to see my fellow countryman make it to the very top, regardless i8f he does or not, he has made plenty of fans down here and highlighted the sport which was pretty faded during the last decade.
