Congrats to Joseph on a tough win. The stats show exactly what the judges saw:

"Everyone's been asking, 'what's it going to be like when Joe gets hit on the chin – not once or twice, but plenty of times?' Well, you can see there's nothing wrong with the chin of Joseph Parker," Barry declared.

Statistics from CompuBox show Takam threw 342 power punches at Parker and landed 92 of them. He also fired out 109 jabs but only got 28 through.

In all the Paris-based Cameroon veteran landed 120 of 451 punches thrown.

Parker was busier, firing out 534 punches and landing 127 of them. Importantly he scored with 102 of his 261 power punches.

He threw an impressive 273 jabs during the 12 rounds and while only 25 landed, they were a crucial ploy to control the distance of the fight against Takam who constantly looked to press into the closer regions.

"I'm very proud of him because he weathered some storms," Barry said of Parker.

Parker looks as if he is going somewhere. He could beat Wilder, but Wilder would never fight him....................Wilder wants Sconiers next..................

Kiwi heavyweight Joseph Parker is set to fight Solomon Haumono in what would be the biggest transtasman bout in history.

Australian newspaper The Daily Telegraph reports that Haumono and Parker have been negotiating the multimillion fight through their respective camps for months, and are now close to finalising a deal with an announcement potentially coming within days.

The fight would likely take place in New Zealand, and the winner would get an IBF title bout against Britain's world champion Anthony Joshua.

Parker, 24, defeated tough French-Cameroonian Carlos Takam in Manukau on Saturday via unanimous decision to become the mandatory challenger for Joshua.

The undefeated Parker (19-0, 16KO) is New Zealand's best heavyweight since David Tua, while Haumono (24-2-2, 21KO) is one of Australia's best-known athletes having previously been a star NRL player.

Haumono, 40, has been publicly challenging Parker for some time and it appears his wish has been granted.

Officially announced I believe tomorrow....but being a smaller country and everyone knowing everyone, stuff like this always gets leaked.

    I don't mind seeing this.
A bit of a step back (from the highly ranked Takam), but still a live opponent to work on some of Parkers shortcomings from the Takam bout.

    I would like to see.

    1. More of the double jab worked
    2. Post-combo, an increased awareness to move, rather than stand upright in the pocket (open for counters)
    3. Work on getting out of the ropes and corners- Using jabs, and/or feints to create space.
    4. Pacing the fight, knowing when to increase and decrease workload. Winning the rounds smartly.

    My 2 cents

Yep, fully agreed - would be a fun fight and will shut up some of the people saying Parker is dodging the Aussie, turning it into a "stay busy" fight which is worth some ring time.

I'm ok with him fighting Haumono next, he should also take up Hearn's offer to be on one or more Joshua cards in the UK before fighting for a title.

I think the Haumono fight is a good idea. But it is only "possible" to happen.

    Not probable.

Odds are Hearn wants him against Whyte, who tbh despite being a worse boxer than both Parker and Joshua has the same chance of putting Parker away the way he could have with Joshua if he didn't hurt himself when he rocked Joshua in the 2nd. I'd not go that way, too much risk vs reward.

Yeah, I just checked the Matchroom stable and the only HWs Hearn has are Whyte and Joshua. Whyte is high-risk low-reward, I agree, Parker should only take it if he gets to choose a better opponent.
