Briggs is an easy fight for Haye

Too slow and Have is too elusive to be caught in those first 3 rounds

 

It's always tempting with these seemingly one-sided fights to ask 'does the underdog have a shot?' It is boxing after all. You don't want to look like a fool if the upset happens. You can still pick the favourite but qualify your support by saying the other guy at least has a chance. Well, Briggs has no chance. Don't lend this mismatch any credibility whatsoever.

 

Briggs has no chance.

I still have doubts over whether he should be licensed. Certainly he shouldn't be put in with someone half-decent, and Haye is still just about half-decent and a puncher too. Briggs is an accident waiting to happen.

But in a way I'm glad Haye is shouting for this fight. This latest comeback shows his true colours. It shows what a shameless circus act he is. Perhaps it will make some people look back at his entire heavyweight career and realize that he's been doing more or less the same thing for the last 7 or 8 years. Just now that he's over-the-hill he takes it to a more disgraceful level.

Having said that, even RING magazine rate Haye among the top 10 atsch

 

Haye is a disgrace for even contemplating fighting Briggs.

The fight really doesn't need to happen. Haye isn't doing any favours by beating up a 44 year old Briggs.

 

I like Shannon. In fact I'd go so far as to say I think he is an inspiration, so I hope he gets paid retirement money.

That said, I wish Haye wouldn't do this. His rare fights always seem be tune-ups against shot or over-matched stiffs... or fall into "the public are asking me more about this fight than any other" category.

It's the last category that I would advise him against. At 35 if he genuinely wants a title again he has to make a direct line to fighting the champions, and a mismatch against Briggs because "the public demand it" is just another 6 month delay to that ambition.

 

Boxing mainly about conning fans to buy overpriced tickets and Sky Pay per Poos.

Boxing fans don't need to ask the question - they know without any doubt.

When cants like Eddie Hearn says 'this is the fight everybody wants to see' means is is a mediocre fight that he wants everybody to by a Pay per Poo to see.

Haye went down the Eddie route of sticking his future opponent on the same bill against an opponent with 0% chance of winning while fighting an opponent himself with 0% chance of winning.

The acting outside the ring and post fight would even struggle to get past WWE diehards who believe wrestlers shyte don't smell.

All they care about is fleecing money out of the thick mugs out there who continue to buy tickets and Pay per Poos.

 

There is no way Briggs has a chance and Haye is a disgrace even taking this fight, an utter disgrace. Haye has no class at all in encouraging this and is showing what he is really about. I really think he is taking these nothing fights with the intention of quitting due to injury as soon as a real challenge is about to take place. I was glad to see Haye back but him even considering this fight just says it all, couldn't care less about Haye now.
From what I saw last night it looked like Shannons fight was rigged to make him look great (which it didn't), he went all out in round one because he knew he didn't have to worry about stamina, but he still looked tired to me lol. I think the body shots where there because it was more tiring to land head shots, this obviously leaving himself well open. Even that no hoper landed a couple of head shots on Briggs. Haye will absolutely kill him and the fight shouldn't happen. I just hope David Haye is exposed for the con man he is. To erase the stuff he did before he needed this comeback to be credible, doesn't look like he is coming back all guns blazing, destroying the pretenders to me. He needs all these nothing fights to get back in form?

 

The Briggs opponent was a taller version of Jamie McDonnell and built like a golf club.

Having a loss to the mighty Hector Avila and sticking him in with Briggs is absolutely shocking.

Never seen a heavyweight built like Harry Potter before.

Briggs has a punchers chance that's it. If he was younger than Haye there might be an argument for stamina becoming an issue for Haye in the later rounds but Briggs is 44 and has had 60 odd fights.

How is Briggs licensed to fight in the UK? Who made that decision?

 

Be it on the British Board of Controls head if Briggs ends up in a Blackwell situation because he has pride and doesn't want to fall on the first jab that hits him flush. Then again he could employ the same tactics as the Swiss guy last night and get KOd by a jab that didn't even connect.....for the payday I'm guessing he will do exactly that.

Haye! You're a joke who's gone down in a lot of people's opinions after last nights joke! Hopefully AJ will end your career in style but I guess you'll get what you want by then and that being a few quid to retire on. Fury was 10000000000000% right about you!
