False. It literally is a pillar of the scoring criteria. (just a refresher, they are: clean punching, effective aggression, ring generalship AND defense)

Nice shooting, Tex. How's your foot?

Canelo did nothing to win unless punching air, glove, and arm are some new scoring criteria.

    Defense is scored

Punching air, glove, arm and ineffective agression is not!

Anyone having it the other way is clearly bias or doesn't know how to score a fight.

The fight wasn't even close and the reason it was a boring fight is because Canelo lacked the skills necessary to make it a competitive fight. No Lara fan thought the fight was boring because they watch Canelo getting schooled. Canelo fans thought it was boring because their man couldn't do anything of relevance.

    Compare cotto vs Canelo
    And Lara vs Canelo
Cotto Canelo put me in REM sleep. That was a glorified sparring match. You throw a combo and I'll block it then I'll comeback with a combo. Nobody hurts anybody we keep it close all Puerto Ricans will say it's a robbery therefore we can sell the rematch

Absolutely nothing in the rules of boxing anywhere states that.

Well, good thing it takes all sorts, eh? Sometimes you get two aggressive guys. Sometimes you get two spoilers. Sometimes one and one. The rules are fine exactly as they are. Not every single boxing match needs to be Gatti vs. Ward III, and that's a stupid expectation to have.

Your petty desire to stack the deck against those with styles you find distasteful is absolutely NOT a reason to overhaul the entire structure of the sport as it has existed for a century and a half, no.

The fight left more questions than answers the only one who saw Canelo winning was Levy Martinez (judge) his Mexican friend I forget Oscar too.

CALCULATED risks are what bring rewards in life. Not stupid risks propter se.

Step into a main drag with heavy traffic and tell me what rewards you were expecting as you're convalescing in the ICU (should you even be that lucky)

Being the guy coming forward doesn't make you a special little cupcake or earn you a damn thing. Just get rid of that line of thinking altogether.

I had Lara winning early. Then his output dropped and Canelo found increasing success to the body. Lara kept getting hit more as the fight went on. He'd maybe land the flashiest punch in the late rounds, but Canelo would steal it by landing the more thundering blows that really seemed to slow Lara down.

When I watched it, I went in expecting Canelo to be out boxed pretty bad based on what I heard but ... I didn't see it like that. Yes, Lara's movement made Canelo's aggression ineffective for spans of the fight, but Lara had 0 aggression - 0 offense for the second half of the fight which cost him, IMO.

As long as he threw, he would win. But he stopped throwing after like the fourth round. Canelo established his body work and that paid dividends in the end. I finished 115-113 Canelo.

Good post, and happy birthday. :good

Lara's offense wasn't exactly down at zero, though. It was just pitpat touch jabs but those count.

Technically you are correct. But we all know deep down what the point of true prizefighting is. Destruction is the name of the game in pro boxing.

The objective really is to literally rattle their brain against the skull with enough force so that they cannot continue.

OR beat them on points. Neither method is more valid.
