The rules change all the time, dude. Boxing 150 years ago was more like mma. You could throw people, pull their hair, gauge, kick shins, hit them while they were down,. There were no gloves and fights went 100 rounds.

You don't need to have a massive damaging blow to win points for hurting the opponent.

Typically if you bang somebody in the face or body hard enough that they walk backwards, shell up or clinch you've done enough damage where they say, **** this hurts I need to tighten my defense up right now.

Yeah, as I recall from the punchstats at the end of the fight, Lara managed to outland Canelo by ten punches at like 110-100. There wasn't much action so it should have been an easy fight for the compubox guys to get accurate readings for once.

    Also, happy birthday, abuffy.

According to Steve Farhood (Showtime) Lara is one of the most selective, accurate with a very high percentage punches landed you called effectiveness.

Woah! Neither method is more valid? Knocking a guy unconscious versus going to the score cards and neither method is more valid?!:patsch

In a spectator sport, where entertainment pays the purses, and generated television ad revenue, only the most exciting performers should be rewarded.

Who won round 5 in the first Barrera Morales fight?

For me it was Barrera easy. Morales landed many more punches, but Barrera landed a massive flush left and hurt Morales.

That's the type of thing I'm thinking about. Its about hitting people as hard as possible.

IB, you box so you'd know, how bad do low blows hurt when you wear a cup? As an effeminate asthmatic albino midget, I've never been man enough to find out for myself. But I remember Boom Boom Mancini saying once that it's not that bad and fighters just milk it to get favorable reffing and to stop guys from body punching them.

I'm not Mexican and I think Canelo's ducking of GGG while holding the belt is (was) ridiculous, bordering cowardly.

But I scored the Lara fight for the Ginger. The weight of his punches was greater throughout the fight. In other words, I believe he 'delivered more hurt' than his opponent.

Same thing in the Trout fight, which I also scored for Canelo.

Looking at the scorecards, if you only count the rounds where the three judges are in agreement (not an infallible method, but often useful in a close event), Canelo took it 4 - 2.

It certainly merits a rematch at some point.

Lara was in full control of the fight
Clearly won the ring generalship battle.

Subtract. 50% of the so called bodyshots Canelo landed. Then you'll have a legit punchstat.

I personally though both Lara & Trout edged out Canelo but lost very close decisions. I also think Trout beat Charlo but he was never in with a chasnce of getting a decision

Happy Birthday Abuffy Hope you had a great one
