Chin on lenni is over rated. No legendary heavy weight goes down like an over protected girl via one big shot to the face twice. Bowe proved he could take punishment and still stay standing.

To be honest, the only time I ever saw lenni take a full series of big leveraged punches was against Vitali but against all the others he hardly got hit with anything big on the sweet spot.

Riddle me this, the ONLY recognized champ in ANY weight class over the last 100 years who was laid out not Once but TWICE by O-N-E punch by two MEDIOCRE fighters................and the answer is ..............Lennox Lewis.

Is he in the Guinness book of records for that ?

 

No but I think if you looked up boxers with the shortest primes in History, Bowe's name would be near the top of the list.

As for a boxer who designs a kitchen in his bedroom because he's too lazy to walk that far, well that's a category all by itself.

You are not getting me, I dont dislike Lewis, as a matter of fact he was a great Heavyweight but just believe there are others who were better.

His major flaw will always his chin, no excuses, it does not matter how many big hitters he won against and they could not land flush...... the only flush right hands that were landed against him by two fairly non descript fighters put him down and out.

So in any fantasy match up against top opposition the reality exists that at least a third of those heavy handed fighters going to land a flush right hand and make him go to sleep.

 

To be fair, that was over a career of well over ten years fighting solid men, from Mason in 1991 to Vitali in 2003. And while McCall and Rahman may have been relatively mediocre heavyweight champions, they were solid fighters and those punches were bona fide.

It's a fair rap against Lewis, that it happened, but the more often you go into the lion's den, the more often you'll get your head bitten off (for the sake of the metaphor, can we assume the head grows back after decapitation?).

Bear in mind Bowe was out on his feet (v similar shape to Lewis v McCall) from a punch from Holyfield, a small heavy not known for his power and who was in terrible physical condition that night, and tell me how often you think Bowe would have got knocked out if he had stuck around as long as Lewis, fighting younger men of similar size to himself?

 

First of all if he was only hit flush twice in a career when he fought some of the hardest punchers around then he must have a he'll if a defense but we only need to watch two fights, the Mercer fight and his fight with Vitali to know you're full of ****.

 

I always had the impression that Lewis had Bowe's number, and would have beaten him in 8-10 rounds if the fight had come off.

Bowe might well have had better all round skills, but Lewis had the fight changing power to cancel out shaky start.

 

Bowe never proved he was better than Golota in 2 attempts.

 

Outside of a points win against Holyfield and winning again against a very ill version of that same opponent, what fighters of quality did Bowe beat?

 

lewis never proved that he was better than vitali klitschko or chirs byrd( who he avoided)

 

He proved he was the better champion, just look at who he defended his titles against vs who Bowe defended against.

 

Lewis beat Vitali for a start, or did you miss that out?

byrd did beat vitali. and byrd at least fought ike, lewis never did. ike was better than rahman the same who knocked him the **** out.
