Your opinion that Greb would hammer Wills is none of my business. But you said that "most people would agree" with you. That's absurd.

Right, but what is your explanation for the newspaper reports to the contrary?

George Foreman: "I was more scared of the dotted line than Tyson".

    What dotted line?

Oh yeah, you mean the numerous times Foreman called Tyson out but when it came time to sign the dotted line Foreman balked!?

Foreman was more afraid of Don King, right? Well than why did Holyfield sign with King to fight Tyson in '96? Holyfield did it, why couldn't Foreman? Or Lennox Lewis even?

To get a fight with Tyson you had to go through Don King. Bottom line.

I have a duck for you. Two of them.

    Foreman-Tucker in '95.

    Foreman-Schulz rematch in '95/'96.

It's a wonder why Foreman ended up beltless in 1995. I know the reason why, he was waiting for Tyson to leave Don King yet his credibility took a dump once he got a gift against Schulz and fought, ahem, world beater Crawford Grimsley instead.

Everyone called Mike Tyson out. EVERYONE. Yeah, Tyson ducked Foreman to fight Ruddock twice.

Remember Tyson ducking Ruddock in late '89? That's a standard ducking wouldn't you agree?

You have written and read many articles and taken from them as I have. One thing that those articles provide is the writers opinion based on what he knows, his personal biases, his agenda, so really you have to take what they wrote with a grain of salt. If you think what they wrote was all factual it was not. It's only their opinion's. I take what I read and my experience in boxing and form my own opinions just as they did.
I ask you what is your explanation for the reports to the contrary, and there are plenty. You have to admit that there are opposing views, you don't have to defend them and neither do I.
The reason is simple very few actual facts, and heavy on opinions. Having dueling opinions wont convince you and wont convince me. It's a good thing there is vid of the Firpo fight, that should convince most people that Wills was not all that.

Not all opinions are equally subject to scrutiny by virtue of the opinion itself. The claim that most people feel that Greb would hammer Wills is baseless. The claim that that claim is baseless is not. That opinion is not expressed by a majority in either print or here on this forum.

If I'm wrong, feel free to prove it.

I admit that there are opposing opinions; I admit that each writer has their own opinion.

Your explanation seems to be that these articles are useless. That the inherent biases within them make articles in favour of Dempsey-Wills untrustworthy. Of course, this means that the articles you've mentioned who say the opposite are also worthless because of inherent bias.

Then you describe how you have formed your own opinion.

In other words you are supplanting your own opinion for the opinions that I asked you about in the first instance. This is not satisfactory for most serious posters, I don't think.

Anyone who thinks that the prevailing opinion was that Wills hadnt proved his right, or that he would have lost to Greb, or that he ducked everyone else doesnt know jack **** about boxing or the era and hasnt read 1/1000th the amount of opinions necessary to formulate such a bold statement.

When you admit on July 4, 1919 that you have no intention of fighting Wills and lose your championship September 23, 1926 still ducking Wills that amounts to over 7 years of bold faced ducking for the most cowardly of reasons. I cant think of any other fighter in history whose ducking was so egregious.
