Bert Cooper ran into Foreman and he got hit with a body shot so hard it lifted him clean off his feet. Then the tuff as nails Cooper refused to come out after the second round.

What Dempsey going to do? Out brawl him? The same guy who was blown away by Firpo? Don't see it

How many legitimately world class heavyweights did Foreman II beat?

What was his record against world class heavyweights?

His accomplishment in winning the title at this age was incredible, but he was not some head to head monster at this point.

He was losing against the best of the division, and none of them was as dangerous as Dempsey.

Did Firpo win a rematch that I don’t know about?

Styles make fight. The guys who beat him kept it long on the back foot.. They had to.

4MAN is rock . Jack is clippers.

Firpo proved he could be hittable. Coming on to 4man + being hittalbe+ 190lbs = suicide.

Do you think that he would have done much better against a 190lb version of Holyfield, than the version he actually fought?

Holyfield had defensive skills Dempsey did not. Could Depmsey fight on the back foot? He'd have to.

The only legitimately world class opponent that Foreman stopped in his second career, was Michael Moorer.

Frankly Michael Moorer was the only legitimately world class opponent that he beat convincingly.

An incredible win taken in context, but not one that makes him a head to head wrecking ball.

I'd give Dempsey more of a chance against Vander than against 4ManII.

Foreman will crush any smaller man in history who meets him head on.

Dempsey never meet a foe like that. His era was full of creaky lurches with crude skills.

His fighting style was mostly close quarters combat in the wheel house. He'd get destroyed. So would Holyfield if he hadn't fought a constant stick n move defensive first fight.

The Dempsey from the Willard fight is unbeatable by the available boxers in history. Dempsey had the greatest performance I have ever seen at heavyweight. A true beating he put on Willard. At that point he had no weaknesses. The Dempsey from the fights after that was different. He lost a bit of that animalistic edge you could say. He still was dominating, he just was...different. Dempsey had the perfect style for fighting bigger men. Helluva lot faster than Frazier in both hand and foot.

We never got to see the best version of George. We saw huge potential against two guys then he imploded against Ali. You cannot combine what George had first time around with the measured old man Patience of his second incarnation. That guy never existed.

As fantastic as the stunning potential George showed against Frazier and Ken Norton was, It was only ever really on par with Ingo Johansson beating Eddie Machen and Floyd Patterson. He did not sustain it.

Bottom line, the the young George did not really beat a prime great fighter and the old George barely beat anyone good.

We have to favour Jack Dempsey here.

I see the Dempsey fan boys are as daft as ever. Now they have morphed the guy into Ali. If he fights Foreman he is either going to dance like the pre exile version, or try the rope a dope like the post exile Ali. Yeah right, of course he is. Any version of Dempsey would be smashed by Foreman inside 2 rounds. His jab would put him on his ass, and his big looping rights put JD into a coma. It would be legalised thuggery allowing foreman to smash a 190lb guy.

I'm a bit lost for words here.

It's one thing to be pro Dempsey, and even to pick him over George. But slagging off George to this level?

    FD will have an aneurysm.
