Everyone who saw both in their primes said langford would have beat joe How do you guys see this fight going ?
Louis wins this.Langford wasn't hard to hit and good jabbers found him.Louis busts him up, but might get floored along the way.
I'd have to disagree First time I've heard langford described as "wasn't hard to hit" which is very inaccurate Louis had an ordinary jab it wasn't in the ali/Holmes/Wlad class of jabs I'm wondering if you've seen Sam fight or given this serious thought
If you think Louis had "an ordinary jab," I don't believe there is any profit in my debating with you . I've seen what is available of Langford. Flynn Jeannette Lang Plus training clips What additional footage have you seen? Good jabbers beat Langford eg Smith,Fulton.:hi:
Louis' jab is overrated Langford defeated smith in a rematch and only lost the first fight because he took gunboat lightly as he himself admitted He only lost to Fulton due to being blinded during the bout not due to Fulton being a master jabber I don't know where this idea that Sam struggled with jabbers comes from by all accounts he was one of the greatest boxers in history at getting past jabs Anyway every expert who saw them both in their primes picked langford
I'm unsure why everyone says Louis has a great jab I've watched him and I can't see it He was a great puncher the torque he could get on his punches was amazing but great jabber ? No not in my opinion
Anyone that says Joe louis had an "ordinary" jab is just blowing smoke..Louis's jab was so hurtful and second to none. Jimmy Braddock who fought Louis said that Louis's jab " felt like a light bulb exploding in my face"... The most powerful left jab in history. Bar none...
Wlad's jab is much more powerful then Louis' jab so was liston's and Holmes' jabs Jimmy Braddock wasn't even a real heavyweight and never would have held the title if max Baer had bothered to train
No I have seen video evidence that the impact from them was harder Do you have anything to contribute to my thread regarding a langford vs Louis bout ?
I have never been a fan of the idea that you should believe something because an authoritative boxing figure said it, but you should always ask why they said it: “How that baby could hit. Nobody else could hit like that. Well, maybe Joe Louis could but Sam only weighed 160lbs. Joe Louis was about 195.” “My boy (Joe Louis) is still two years removed from his prime. By then I will have him in Langford’s class.” Jack Blackburn Joe Williams on being asked how Sam Langford would do against Joe Louis. “Just too much of a fighter. There wasn’t anything Sam couldn’t do and if he had a weakness then nobody ever found out what it was. I have plenty of respect for Joe Louis as a hitter, but I can’t see him hitting Sam hard enough to make him mad”
