    Liston was also murdered.

He was found dead (for 3 days) in his bathroom, of a supposedly "overdose":dead:think, perpetrated by the mob :hat.

Foreman was poisoned before the fight.

They put something in his drink that made him weak and drowsy before the fight.

Never understood the fix argument in the first fight

the rematch to me seemed like a case of the ref losing control of the fight and wrongly stopping it...Ali never went to the corner so the count didnt start much like Dempsey and Tunney. They got up and started fighting, if he took a dive why would he get up and keep fighting?

Sonny was my favorite, but he wasn't in great shape for Ali.Had Ali not come on the scene, and Liston trained hard,I could see him getting by Frazier,Ellis etc,and perhaps we would have got to watch a Liston Foreman stare down.

    Poor timing of this thread.

Ali was Liston's kryptonite. Fast, skillful, great legs and granite chin. Liston was always going to get punished fighting Ali and wasn't mentally strong enough to get up and take his beating.

    RIP Ali.

The winning fighter often doesn't know the fight is fixed. He doesn't have to know and in most cases shouldn't know as there is no benefit of him knowing.

My two cents ... First fight is questionable as a lot has come out over the years, mostly hearsay, indicating Liston was forced to and/or paid to lose. Tough to tell - hearsay from the boxing community is what it is - often bull****.

The second fight is obvious. Liston was a beast with a solid chin. Fix was too obvious.

Well, for me, liston clearly took a dive in the second fight.

The first fight, is well known that the mob had something to do with it. Actually, wasn't it the reason of the second fight happening? Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY, thought the first one was fixed.

no, retired thru injury demands a rematch, though u can argue there was no injury, or if there was clay caused it with his evasive style.

Poor form on the timing. I don't care if Liston would've knocked Ali out twice, it wouldn't make his death any less sad.
