Rewatched the fight last night. Got to say the "Greatest One" sure was humbled that night.

Ali thought he would win. His mouth convinced himself. But Frazier had his hand.

Ali was made to look really inneffective. Threw a bunch of weak straights which Frazier easily handled with head movement. Ali's lack of power and body punching meant all Frazier had to do was walk in, slip and drop that left hook.

And man did it land. He was cranking that thing all night. Until finally the damage accumulated and Frazier dropped him.

Bona-fide ass kicking that night. Only thing Frazier didn't do was make sure Ali didn't beat the count.

Past prime Ali loses to one of the best ever. Big deal.
Past prime Ali went on to beat him in the FOTC.
After Ali through jabs, he had a habit of not bringing his lead hand back, keeping him open for great Frazier left hooks..which landed many times in the FOTC.

After Frazier was squashed like a bug against Foreman. Which was probably the most destructive event I've seen in a boxing ring.

Also Ali was 29. Perhaps Frazier was just a step up. He was no Cleveland Williams.

Just watched It also. Frazier did get the best of him in the 1st fight, no doubt. But I think everyone already knows that, who follows boxing closely.

I didn't like the Ali Trash talk thing. He over did it. With the narcissistic self promotion. It was just too much.

And then Frazier unloaded on him and easily outclassed him.

Time to put up pr shut up. He didn't put up but kept talking.

All I know is Frazier owns Ali. And always will because that fight was an ass kicking.

It was a very brutal fight. Ali caught Frazier with a lot of shots coming in, Frazier's face was all busted up and he almost died after this fight (he also already had health issues with blood pressure and Kidney problems I believe).

Ali was always vulnerable to the left hook. You can see numerous instances where Ali is throwing a combo, Frazier is getting low, avoiding the shots, moving his upper body up and down, then explodes from his crouch with a left hook. The right side of Ali's face was badly swollen.

Frazier was just so active with his body punching, constant upper body movement, and those left hooks. His stamina was amazing. Ali didn't just take hard left hooks to the face, but he also took a hammering to the body.

Classic fight, and it may not have even been the best fight the two had against each other.

I disagree. Both men were in decline by then. Fotc Frazier was peak Frazier. Ali was rusty yes but his skills were still better than what he brought to Manila

Overstatement. Ali lost but he ruined Frazier in the process.

I don't know man. 5 Knockdowns of a natural Heavyweight in 2 rounds. The best Heavyweight in the world who at the time was undefeated is hard to top.

He had 2 tune up fights. I gave Ali 4 rounds. Ali also clinched more than John Ruiz ever did in that fight.
