Have we ever seen anything like Vasyl Lomachenko?

Moore has fought much better opposition so it's hard to gauge the skill gap.

Everyone thought Judah was the **** until he ran into Zoo.

 

He likes to jump back and stop pucnhing too much.

Could have stopped Russell had he not done that.

The win over Benitez was highly flukish.

The Moore ****ogy seemed strange to me because he was so fundamentally unsound and reckless (also, I probably have a lower opinion of him than most posters here do).

 

Might be hard to judge the talent gap but the skill gap is clear as day.

 

I firmly believe he needs to be more like Calzaghe than he currently is.

 

Amazing would be a few of levels too high. He was having life and death battles with good fighters. Grantd he was doing this very early career but Duran exposed his lack of experience and underdeveloped skills.

Enormous heart tho, i was a big fan of Davey. I thought he slugged far too often and could have deveoped into a half decent boxer. Very exciting fighter, R.I.P.

 

We see Davey Moore as a great starter, but even he in his first 7 fights fought low level opposition whilst Lomachenko will most probably be a 2 division champion in 7 fights by this Saturday night.

 

Naoya Inoue is probably the closest comparison, since he currently holds the record for quickest route to two titles. Different styles of fighter, though the talent seems comparable.

 

I think the hyperbole on Lomachenko is a little out of control. He is extremely skilled, and has amazing footwork. But, winning multiple titles (or any title) these days is nowhere near as difficult a task as it used to be. Although I would favor him to edge out the aging (but tough as nails) Salido in a rematch, I really would not bet much money on him repeating his victory over Gary Russell if they fought again. Russell seems to be fighting with more confidence (and power), and I do not see Vasyl adjusting his game much to the pro ranks. If anything, I think he is regressing a bit. He should still be able to get past Roman Martinez this weekend, but, I will be curious to see how easy or difficult the fight is for him. Mikey Garcia beat up Martinez pretty good. Can Vasyl do the same?

Mikey Garcia is a great talent but even he was being notably outgunned by Salido before Garcia's nose broke from a headbutt so the fight had to stop.

Russell Jr doesn't have the style to worry Lomachenko. Lomachenko has seen so many Russell Jr's in the amateurs. Russell has power but that's only when he's allowed to fight his own fight. Lomachenko didn't let that happen because he's just the better fighter. In fact, Russell Jr by the end of the 12th round looked finished and wobbly at the end. That's against Lomachenko in only his 3rd pro fight.

I really do hope he can adjust more by gaining points on affective aggression and dirty pro tactics. If he just does these, I know he's going to be amongst the Ali's, Leonard's, Hearns' etc.

The reason why I'm positive is because Lomachenko mastered two different point-scoring mechanisms in the Olympics. Before it was more of the computerised scoring and he won the Val Barker trophy.
Then it changed to a cleaner point-scoring system, he mastered that, too.
So I'm hoping he adapts his point-scoring strategies to the pro game.

 

Didn't mikey garcia drop salido. Like 4 times.

 

Yeah lol. Mikey was doing well, but Salido figured Mikey Garcia out and in the last few rounds started to put a beating. Mikey just looked like he was giving up. Incidentally, it was that blueprint that he then used on Lomachenko that was working for him.
