Agreed.. I think a stoppage win for Holyfield was in the works for the rematch as well. Tyson was getting bullied around the ring again, which no doubt led to him getting frustrated and committing that foul. Of course he might have had a valid claim that Holy had head butted him and gone unpenalized, but nevertheless he was losing.

Nice comment, escudo. Nice antedote to the nasty vitriol that all too often rears its head on this board when opinions differ.

It's the truth SuperWoman, in fact I have every one of his fights on DVD and plenty of amateur bouts.

Agreed. Everyone knows that Tyson goosed your gal or something back in the day and you haven't forgiven him since.

I believe you. You dont have the blind hate that foxy does.
Just out of curiosity do you have a professional background or some university level education in engineering or science?
My dad is the same way in that he criticizes the people and fighters that he likes, the most. He says that you have to question everything and "think like an academic". Look at both sides of every argument and try to counter your own bias.

But please keep the nasty name calling out of this thread. Its silly

Tbh I mostly do it to wind the blind fanboys up but they do wind me up I agree. They make out as though Tyson is the only fighter in history to go through hardships and what not. To them Tyson isn't to blame for any of it when infact he is to blame for the majority of it.

I never went to university but I am an engineer on the Railway, it's good money and I'm seldom there. I work to live and don't live to work.

Cool i respect that. He is to blame for most of it but his potential is undeniable. I remember kevin rooney saying after the spinks fight, that he was only 50% where he wanted him as a fighter and thats understandable as he was only 21-22 years old. I admire his ferocity, his chin and his punching power and speed but at the same time, as someone who studied psychology in university, i see him as a sad sad man with many issues back then. Now he seems to be doing much better and at peace with himself

Just curious. How many of you actually read all of my ****ysis? If you did, did you like it? I might make more of these if anyone is interested. I am staying with my grandmother for the next few months, who has terminal cancer but her care does not take much time out of my day as she is still very resilient and fit, so i have a lot of free time

That's the thing, where could he have improved technically with Rooney? Personally I think he reached his full potential with Rooney. Maybe he could have improved his inside game but I don't think Tyson had the stamina like a Joe Frazier to be like Joe on the inside. In plenty of fights you hear Rooney yelling at Tyson to work on the inside which tells me he was being taught to but for whatever reason wasn't doing as taught. Maybe the opinion that Tyson's style was designed for a short career is the truth, we can only guess.

In my opinion Louis, Ali, Tyson and Holyfield have the best styles and visually are the greatest heavyweights I've seen.

I agree one hundred percent! Especially holyfield who seemed to be the perfect blend.
In answer to your other statement, i think he could have thrown combos more consistently, instead of falling into long periods where he would headhunt with single shots like against tony tucker. And yes he needed to learn how to punch on the inside. Its not that he didnt learn, he did not want to because tyson would often start the clinches and shove his arm into his opponents bent arm to make it look like he was being held. A "silent contract not to hurt each other for now" as teddy atlas called it, and i 100% agree

Hey kid, don't get your panties in a twist because someone admires your dedication to write your opinion but completely disagrees with it.

Show me 5 examples of Tyson triumphing over adversity in 56 fights, because I can show you 6 where he caved in under pressure.

That is the difference between us. You try to portray your opinion as fact. Mine is backed up by the stats.

As for hatred, if you have a penchant for rap!sts, that is your problem, don't presume to tell me I can't consider them sub human filth.

I hope the taxpayer didn't have to subsidise the fools time at university.
