Wilder vs. Arreola on July 16th according to Dan Rafael

Please explain to us why Arreola is a good opponnent for Wilder at this stage of both guys careers,this ought to be good

 

He's not. He's a late sub. But Bert Cooper wasn't a good opponent for Holyfield when they fought either, and that was still a fun night.

I wouldn't be surprised if Arreola tagged Wilder and even put him down. (Like Cooper did with Evander). I think it could be a really wild fight.

But I think Wilder will eventually stop him.

If it's a fun fight, nobody will care. The guys who like Wilder will enjoy it. The guys who hate him will have something to hate him even more for.

It's win all around.

 

Arreola isn't even ranked by the We Be Crooks, arguably lost to Kassi and Kaufmann and failed a post fight drug test afterwards

I'm not defending it. I'm just stating the facts.

Arreola was ranked. He smoked weed. He got a three-month suspension. He'll be ranked again when he returns.

Obviously, weed isn't helping. Weed makes you look like Chris Arreola.

Meldonium is a PED. It helps you look like Povetkin and Sharapova.

After Povetkin is suspended ... and when he returns ... he can get ranked again and get back in line, too, like Arreola.

I thought Wilder and Povetkin should've fought last September. And I thought they should've fought in January. I thought they should've fought in May. Frankly, I have no idea why people are bending over backwards waiting for this 37-year-old.

As I've stated time and time again, Povetkin has been involved in four purse bids in his career ... and he's managed to get out of fighting in three of the four. Once you make him your mandatory ... everything comes screeching to a halt.

If he gets a title shot in the future, I don't care. But I hate when other fighters have to scramble because Povetkin keeps screwing up.

I'm looking forward to Joshua-Breazeale, Wilder-Arreola and Klitschko-Fury II. I hope they all end in exciting, conclusive KOs.

I was rooting for Fury last time. This time, I think I'm rooting for Wlad.

I'd rather see three of the four belts unified this year. That will likely happen if Klitschko and Wilder win their next fights.

I would rather not talk about Povetkin until he's walking up the steps and into a ring for his next fight. Because he's not helping the division at all with all his delays and stalling and failing drug tests.

I'd rather concern myself with the people who actually fight.

 

I doubt Arreola could beat Sharapova these days.

Now that I think of it, the more title shots one gives Arreola, the greater the chance he actually pulls off the upset :rofl Laws of probability will probably play in Arreolas favor here :yep

I don't think the situation with Holyfield and Bert Cooper are comparable. Cooper was a very late substitute, for another substitute. Holyfield was meant to fight Tyson, but he suffered a rib injury, so Holyfield rescheduled to fight Damiani only for him to pull out 7 days before the fight with an ankle injury.

So Holyfield took on Cooper with 7 days notice, while the fight with Wilder/Povetkin was suspended in mid May some 2 months before his scheduled next bout. Wilder had plenty of time to get a better opponent but chose not to.

Cooper as well was coming off a win against prospect Joe Hipp and was on a 4 fight KO streak and at 25 was in his prime. Arreola is 1-1-1-1NC in his last 4 fights and should be 1-3 in reality and at 35 is clearly shot.
