Should GGG fight Khurtsidze to become No.1 mandatory challenger for the WBO title?

It'd be an acceptable voluntary even if it doesn't technically make him the WBO's mandatory. Fun fight.

Because Rubio was interim champ and voluntarily fought GGG.

 

But he was still the mandatory while holding the IBF, and WBA straps. So it does happen.

 

Yeah in rare cases, like when IBF had YPH as injured champ so they made Ramirez interim.

If for some freak reason Saunders can't defend his belt then maybe they would make an interim champ out of someone else.
Really far fetched though.

 

I think when there's a consensus champ like GGG or Kovalev in a division, other sanctioning body(ies) should push for a unification. Otherwise they are stuck with a "world champion" whom noone but themselves recognize as such - and it degrades their belt.
