Does Duran's left hook deserve a mention?

Duran is an underrated technician. Said it before and I'll say it again. He's the most magnificent fighter I've seen on film.

It was a left hook that wobbled SRL, but Duran's money punch was usually the right hand.

But I agree with the above comments, he was probably the best overall fighter I've seen in my lifetime, although SRL is up there as well.

Ali and RJJ to me were more athletes who were very good boxers.

Everything Duran did deserves a mention, but his money shot was the right cross from hands held up high.

His money shot was his right thrown at close range punching right through the opponent.

The best we have on film is indeed Roberto Duran

I think you guys are being a bit trolled here.

But still I'm thinking about this "Duran being the best on film and most complete ever". To accept that you have to ignore everything he did above WW as clearly past his prime. I think that is reasonable. You also have to put down him being second best to Leonard in every exchange in New Orleans to him not being at his best on the night. Debatable but not unreasonable. But even then I'm not sure. He's up there, though.

Jones is probably the best I've seen in just making good to very good fighters look divisions below, but he's not the most complete. Then you have superb technicians and ring generals like Napoles, Whitaker and McCallum that were a bit lacking in devastating explosiveness and power.

SRR, SRL and Sanchez were very, very complete fighters in my book. Perhaps Robinson even more than the other two. Skill, speed, power, chin, an iron will to win and a tiger's killer instinct. And that's from films that aren't even of the very best version of him.

To me the three best complete fighters we have extensive film on are:
    Whitaker
    Duran
    SRL

If you ask me, who is the best fighter you ever saw (that we have extensive film on), that when he was at his best he looked absolutely unbeatable. I honestly might have to say Jones. He wasn't the most complete, and had flaws, but from a pure athletically gifted standpoint, nobody really comes close. He was unreal talent wise, and at his best weight imo 168 nobody would ever beat him. Even at 175, on his best night, I don't know only Charles and Spinks, and they are big maybes for me.

You do actually know that Mike was nicknamed the " bodysnatcher "

Oh, and he still has a higher KO ratio than Leonard.

Yeah, I feel that way as well. Not a fan, really, but he was something else in his prime.

Ray Lampkin might know a little about Duran`s left hook. :nut

but yea Duran could hurt you with just about any punch in his ****nal. His right was about as good a punch as any in history.
