A defensively outstanding fighter says he values defense and that's magically going to make people dislike him?
Why would it? I have a feeling you just realized Lomachenko has great defense, he's had it since he was an amateur. This is nothing new for us Lomachenko fans, welcome to the Lomawagon.:thumbsup Glad to see you finally understand his greatness. And I love Roy Jones Jr. as well. :deal
I do like Loma and I especially like how he will expose many of the fake fans on this forum and in boxing in general. For years we have heard this "style" hit and don't get hit referred to as running...and now with Loma it's being called the greatest thing ever by those same fake fans...I think you get the point, let the exposure begin!
You are already exposed, you hate so called "runners" but love Loma....ok. The fact you responded to that post in particular indicates you know I'm talking about you
He took a few decent shots from Salido, Russell Jr and one from Martinez. He didn't wobble once. I haven't seen him take a huge shot, though.
So, you preferred Norton over Frazier. ****ey over Foreman. I mean...Don't pretend you suddenly appreciate the finer arts of the sports until you recognize the best footwork in boxing, the best jab in boxing in GGG and at HW in Pulev.
And if your a fan of Ward's huggy bear jab, butt combo, you must luv how Wlad had done so well implementing the same style adding the push off.
Ward's style is effective but I never professed to be a huge fan of it, though his boxing was impressive in his last fight.
You bringing up heavyweights and fighters whose KO power was/is the defining feature of their style. I see no relation to my statement and your response
Norton would outbox Wilder for every split second he survived. But the breeze of wilders windmill would have him staring blankly into the refs eyes. I didn't mention Tyson, because his POWER was based almost entirely on his footwork, very much like GGG. One day you WILL appreciate his 4" step and his balance
Oh, and I'd add...Frazier was in No Way shape or form defined by his POWER. His power was middling. It was his relentless attack, much like JCC. KOS were quite possible, but occurred almost exclusively due to accumulation.
I'm talking about pure boxing the sweet science, not a couple of foot maneuvers a few big men are able to make.
Is geology any less a science as is biology? Physics? Astronomy? OUR....yes, OUR SWEET SCIENCE is subtle movement without running, and while at the same time being prepared to switch from offense to defense in milliseconds. Mayweather is like the best at being a pure defensive fighter, but able to switch from back to front foot with a single turn and dip at the waiste. GGG doesn't dip so much as he's got a certifiable GRANITE chin, but it's his 3-4" subtle slide in or out that is Mayweather-esque in that it allows him to give the appearance that he's never in a defensive posture. Lara seems tentative at times making the switch and opts instead to completely reset, which even to the defensive boxing purists, must look like RUNNING.
