Beatings from the 80s onward with career damaging punishment

Please give suggestions and add when and why the corner or referee should have stepped in, if at all.
And let me know if you agree with my assessments.

Chavez vs Taylor
Taylor too a bad beating, was never the same again.
Fight should not have been stopped. Steele should have been aware of the time and that it was physically impossible for chavez to land another punch in two seconds with taylor 15 feet away.
Their guy was winning so obviously Taylor's corner had no reason to stop it either.

Benn vs McClellan
everyone knows what happened. The referee couldnt have known but if G-man really told his trainer he felt water running in his head and he wanted to quit then his corner should have stopped it right there or atleast called the doctor.

Duran vs Moore
Moore was never the same again mentally or physically. Referee should have stopped it in the 7th.
Corner should not have even let him out for the 7th, he was young and valuable, they should have tried to save him any unneccessary punishment. It was clear that he couldnt hurt duran, so he didnt even have a punchers chance.

Tyson vs Biggs
Corner should have stopped it during or after the 5th round.
Biggs clearly had no chance after the 4th. He was not a puncher so he wasnt gonna get lucky, His legs were gone from the body punishment so he couldnt have stayed away and outboxed him. He looked like he was, or about to start, crying in the corner between rounds. He was young and talented I dont see why Lou Duva and Benton decided to leave him in there to get broken. The referee did the right thing waving it off after the second knockdown. I strongly believe this vicious beating played a role in Biggs descent into drugs after this.

Tyson vs Ruddock II
Ruddock took horrible punishment to the head and body, but he was still fighting so no blame to the referee.
He was also a huge puncher so I cant blame the corner either for hoping he could get lucky.
Tyson cracked his chin, he couldnt take a good shot after this.

Klitschko vs Briggs
Briggs was a punching bag. Ian Lewis should have told briggs to "show him something" or that "he's taking too many shots" after the 10th.
the corner is also to blame for how much damage Briggs took. Vitaly had a solid chin unlike his brother, one punch wasnt gonna do it. Even though Briggs was telling them to not stop it no matter what, they should have known better.

Jones vs Hall
Great show by Jones, who could have ended it in the 1st round.
Wayne Kelly should have stopped if after the 9th. There was no point.
Aaron Snowell is one of the worst cornermen i have ever seen. That idiot is the guy that didnt have an endswell for Tyson's eye in Tokyo and apparantly thought that headmovement, jabbing, bodywork and combinations were not vital to Tyson's success.

Tyson vs Mitch Green
Corner should have stopped it after the 7th. what chance did Green have at this point. Tyson was literally laughing at his slaps and slipping them. Green retired after this

Bowe vs Golota 2
BAD beating, Bowe retired. I can understand the corner land referee letting him fight. He had dropped golota before, maybe he could do it again.

Calzaghe vs Lacy
Great performance by calzaghe
Corner thought their man had a punchers chance, and he was still throwing and coming forward but he took a fearsome beating.
Hey even slaps add up

Cotto vs Margarito and Pacquiao The margarito fight was even until the end, so he still had a chance. Cant blame the referee or the corner but against pacquiao they should have seen that cotto couldnt hurt him so after about the 9th or 10th round it was enough for sure.

 

Re: Tyson-Ruddock II

I think Ruddock's chin was always suspect, but appeared more durable going 19 rounds with Tyson. Not saying the fight didn't take anything out of him, but he never had a great chin imho.

Tyson-Green. I guess I never saw it as a savage beating that led to retirement. I am sure the embarrassment (gang ties and all while getting exposed at home) didnt help his future plans. I thought he had other issues as well. At that time a distance fight with Tyson should have put him in a lot of potential fights though.

 

Every fight with Povodnikov. You can see his depletion from his last two fights.

 

Chavez-Taylor...the thing with that fight is I had no idea how much of a beating Taylor took. Watching it live I think I had the Harold Lederman, near washout score card in favor of Taylor. It has been softened a bit, but despite Taylor looking so good, he took the worxe beating of the two.

 

Yeah ruddocks chin is weird, he easily went down from big single shots that "surprised" him but he took combinations well

Watch the Green fight again. Green took a horrible beating to the body especially since mike actually used his free hand in the clinches, green could not get any respect from tyson and did not know how to tie his man up. These two things are a recipe for disaster against tyson. Tyson knocked out his mouthpiece with some teeth in it according to the commentators.
The man was badly bleeding out of his mouth the entire time, when he got hit to the body he was folding up like a lawnchair.

 

Yeah you could not tell just watching it, but given the aftermath it is clear what happened.

 

I think Lamon Brewster was a fighter who was damaged from one of his outings.

Not a good pick. He's always been chinny with awful skin, but he's currently a world champion bouncing between continents making successful title defenses. Hardly a shattered, never to be the same fighter. If anything it's incredible he's picked himself back up to become a champion after what he's been through.

 

Anyway, Charles Williams vs Merqui Sosa I and II.

 

Hopkins vs Pavlik
