You have to get to 126 and up for respect. That's just the way it is.

I think you'll find a lot of people care about Wilfredo Gomez, Ricardo Lopez, Morales, Barrera, Gonzalez etc.

The 122lb division has arguably produced more great fights in recent times than any other weight class, so you're missing out.

Yes and they're biggest fights came at 126 or 130 pounds. Barrera went nuts with the fanbase after whooping Hamed at 126 and then the Pacquiao and Morales fights were massive. Morales' greatest fight is Pacquiao at 130 pounds.

Ricardo Lopez is that guy who toiled at 105 and nobody cares.

Gomez beat Zarate, but he's far more known for his fights in the higher weight classes with Nelson and Sanchez.

122 is the bridge to 126 where you can start getting respect. And then 147 and up is where full respect comes.

Respect from who? You? Most boxing experts have him at #1 p4p. That's respect in my book.

    Fame, notoriety, money, legacy, etc.

Roman Gonzalez might be the greatest flyweight in boxing history. He's been square in his prime taking on skilled opponents recently.

And all that gets him is an undercard appearance on GGG's can crushing conquests. Because Golovkin is the Middleweight and Gonzalez is the Strawweight/Flyweigh.

True.. But this is a thread about the best fighter currently, not the most popular.

Best is also correlated with how high they rank. How many Flyweights rank in the top 50 ATG?

    None do.

A 112 pound man is not a fighting machine.

Well the talent pool is far smaller for someone at the weight so there would be a much smaller chance of there being great fighters down there. Gonzalez is the exception imo, and I think the skills he has speak for themself.

Most happened at 122 pounds. And Morales and Barrera didn't become stars until they moved to 126 pounds.

That last sentence is a totally clueless, delusional responses from a poster who fits those characteristics to a tee.

What is going on with this board. I left when it became unbearably bad. Then I return out of some bizarre, destructive curiosity to find that even more good poster's have fled and only the most vile trash that litters the board have remained.

There used to be a poster on here who always fought allot with the pro american Nostalgics on this board. Do you remember his name? Why was he banned?

I disagree. Golovkin is at least sllightly better in each skill, and he is significantly better in keeping balance, punch variation and likely the chin quality.

A case can certainly be made. But, judgment would have to be reserved until after the Ward fight.
