    well...

    sonny liston...

imaginary big bad monster: 6´5 240 pounds

reality: 6´0 1/2 weights: the physical prime of a fighter is in his 20s, you can invent garbage for the next 100 years **** like " lewis improved in his 30s , walcott blablabla" the prime weight of a fighter is in his 20s period. he was born in 1930 so in his 20s in the 1950s he weighed... between 198 pounds at 23 years old until 212, weighing tons of times 202,201 and 204 pounds, his highest weight was 212 pounds against cleveland williams.

imaginary big bad monster h2h: " he is a top 10 h2h, he would have beaten pepito, he would have destroyed juanito blablabla", could, would etc

reality: in his complete career his best wins were zora foley, eddie machen( he could not stop him and i guanrantee you that would not be happy having a rematch with him), floyd patterson and cleveland wiliams.

his best win was patterson, well, i will put a list of guys that would have beaten patterson.
    foreman
    holmes
    holyfield
    lewis
    gerry ****ey
    earnie shavers
    tyson
    vitali
    wladimir
    tua
    frazier
    marciano
    dempsey
    joe louis
    tyson fury
    rahman
    ron lyle
    morrison
    ruddock
    sam langford
    ike ibeabuchi
    rid**** bowe
    david haye
    whiterspoon
    ray mercer
    jack johnson
    james smith
oh jesus i am not patient enough.

so the reign of terror of liston was against pure garbage, not big strong guys or quality oposition.

in few words his imaginary ranking in a top 10 h2h is based on nothing but the mind of 4 dreamer boys or nostalgics ancient

No-one spams the board with as many worthless threads than you. You let loose a plethora of them the other day and now this.

You are like a little baby.

I'v e been reading boxing magazines since the early 1960's,I've never seen Liston described as 6'5" 240lbs .

You seem to be arguing with yourself here:huh

well, in his description by his fans you will find phrases like " he was a huge man and he had the power of a 250 pounder, don´t
be fooled by his actual weight"

I barely glazed over it. You typing it sure as hell don't make it right. With your track record, fanboi'ism and knowledge it's rather likely to make it wrong.

Unlike your good self i don't lose sleep over words on a boxing forum. Nor do i hissy up and spent 10 minutes (for you maybe it was 45) making a worthless thread because someone dared to say good words about a guy i see as a threat to my hero :good

Just for you tho i might in the near future do a thread on Foreman taking the most negative slant that can still make sense.

Don't expect to sleep that night

Earnie Shavers hit harder than Foreman ever did at a weight of 210 pounds.

As a matter of fact he could well be the hardest hitting boxer ever to lace them up.

    At 210 pounds!!!!!

    Do you like apples?

The OP is a bit extreme in making his argument, but that doesn't mean he's completely off.

Liston WAS a 6 foot, 210 pound fighter in his prime. That's not a monster by todays standards.

This is what he'd look like next to Klitschko: http://www.boxnews.com.ua/photos/932/Wladimir-Klitschko-Byrd28.jpg

All that big bear, superhuman shtick just doesn't translate into other eras.

And while his win list is pretty impressive, it doesn't justify the h2h ranking he usually gets on this board. He gets a top 5 ranking based on what? Beating Zora Folley and Eddie Machen? An overhyped never was, Cleveland Williams? Patterson was a top win for sure, but then again, how good was Floyd? Was that win really better than Tyson blowing out Spinks?

At best, he just s****es into the top 10. Realistically, he's in the 10-15 range, and no higher.
