Canelo vs Smith is finalized for 9/17.

Not really interested in this fight but there are worse matchups to make be interesting to see how people backtrack on titles and all that jazz.

 

ok....and canelo is 25 and still has alot of career ahead of him.....and he already has a better resume.....u gonna hold it against him if he doesnt fight a/b+ level guys every time out? meanwhile making excuses for a guy who is 34 but never fights guys that good?

 

The past being Novermber 2015.

In 2016 Canelo will have fought two fighters not as proven as his last 6 opponents, but even then they are better than the vast majority of GGGs opponents. So Canelo takes it easy after fighting 6 top notch fighters in a row.

GGG has been taking it easy since HBO started campaigning to make GGG look like the next Mike Tyson.

 

But, but Wade is a thug, and Monroe is fast.

 

Yeah, seems like GBP is trying to market Canelo to the english since its probably the fastest growing market in boxing at the moment. Business decisions aren't always short term gains.

 

Kirkland and Angulo are not top notch fighters :-(. And Smith is Monroe level in terms of how proven he is.

 

I'm not making excuses for Golovkin. Wade is a **** opponent. But Canelo already received a lot of criticism for the Khan fight. He should have chosen a better opponent instead of a worse.

The hell they are. They are B level fighters. Fighters who can beat A level fighters but would usually always be underdogs against A levels because of obvious flaws.

Kirkland and Angulo are better than Golovkins best win Lemieux, at worse they are on par with him.

Canelo can take a year off if he wants to, come back and still have a better legacy than GGG.
