Who The Hell Is Going To Buy Canelo-Smith?

At the very least Eubank Jr has fought competitively against a top 5 fighter in his division. Liam smith hasn't fought anyone in the top 20 in his division.

 

I've never even come close to claiming Canelo/Smith was a good fight but someone got their panties bunched up and threw a hissy fit at the mere mention that it might be on the same level as GGG's next oponent.

 

I guarantee it sells more PPV's than Golovkin vs. Lemieux did.

 

I agree but that's a very low bar to exceed.

 

It just further shows why that fight has yet to happen.

 

Because Golovkin isn't a big enough draw? Golovkin vs Canelo is a big fight.

It's a bigger fight now than it was before the Canelo/Kahn fight and from the looks of it, it's going to be even bigger next year.

 

James "Bonecrusher" smith is coming out of retirement to fight Canelo.

Canelo brings in way more money than Golovkin fighting comparable opposition. Golovkin is the biggest threat in the division to defeating him... So, yes. If Golovkin was an equal money-generator to Canelo, things would likely be different. The reward would be even higher, thus making the risk more worth taking.

 

The backlash is understandable but will all be forgotten by fight night(win or lose).
