Foreman would've have beaten the following: Rid**** Bowe Lennox Lewis Mike Tyson Pinklon Thomas Oliver McCall Larry Holmes
He had ample opportunity to fight all of the above but didn't. Foreman blatantly ducked Rid**** Bowe. There's a video I posted previously where, after a Rid**** Bowe fight, Bowe walks out of the ring, and talks to Lampley, Merchant and Foreman, Bowe says he wants Foreman next to which Foreman starts mumbling, incoherently talking about something about sanctioning bodied and making some excuses or the other. Foreman also flapped it from Tyson and Tucker and Holmes.
Are you serious? Bowe was joking and foreman did not take him seriously, please don't be liar.and you have the courage to say that foreman avoided tyson ? lol TYSON WAS THE MOTIVE CAUSE FOREMAN DID RETURN TO THE BOXING,STYLISTICAL REASONS,IT IS TRUTH THAT HE TRIED TO DO IT BY THE EASIEST WAY,BUT HE WAS 40!! Just the fact of he did think he could have knocked tyson out is amazing , foreman was sure he could do it
I think that he has a strong argument for a top 5 ranking, but it is a difficult case to judge. He arguably has the two best wins in the history of the heavyweight division, 20 years apart! Nobody else has destroyed a heavyweight as good as Frazier so completely, and his accomplishment of winning the lineal title in his late 40s, arguably ranks with Louiss 26 defences and Marcianos 49-0. By that I mean that I dont expect the feat to be replicated any time soon. The weak point of his resume is that it is heavily dependent on a few key wins. It is ridiculously padded in places, and his few signature wins, float in a sea of mediocrity. So you can rank him top ten, or top five, depending on your criteria.
He had 10 years out of the ring, 10 ****ing years. Think about that for a second.... To come back and win a world title after a decade out of the ring is an amazing achievement, that along with his first career definitely puts him in my top 10.
People, who compare boxing to track and field, never actually look at the track records that have stood in boxing for decades. While Jessie Owens 100metre record fell in the 70s, Joe Louiss 26 title defences still stands, sixty years later! Now I think that Foremans accomplishment in winning the lineal title, under those circumstances, is going to stand for sixty years.
Without his second career/comeback he would definitely NOT be rated in the top ten. He never established himself as a fighter with ATG characteristics. However with his comeback to win the true championship after so many years (probably the greatest accomplishment ever in sports history) and in process showing he had ATG will to win, courage, and heart he should be in everyone's top five. He is in mine.
If 1987 George came on the scene in 2004 he would have had the same reign as Wlad minus the losses to Sanders and Brewster and minus the life and death struggles with Sam Peter and Povetkin. A comeback Foreman would have blown that era away in spectacular fashion. Wlad included. He probably would come un done against Vitali , but Wlad never fought Vitali either and some people say he's a great.
