So you're saying Thurman won by robbery?

    When did I say that?

What you said was idiotic. I pointed it out.

A lot of people think that the champion has to be defeated convincingly to lose the title, I guess it's just the young ones who think otherwise. Who won Hagler-Leonard? Or is that too far for your generation?

Porter had his moments, especially in round 8 with the big body combo that sent Thurman to the other side of the ring, but I was impressed with how quickly Thurman got out of there after taking such a flush body shot and he finished the round strong.

Porter never really rocked Thurman though, Thurman though rocked Porter on numerous occasions. I was just watching the 7th round again for example, and with 1 minute to go in the 7th Porter fell down it was ruled a slip, but if you look at the replay Thurman landed a quick left hook in there that caused Porter to go down. (should have been a KD I think .. do you agree?)

I don’t think it’s a robbery, but I do think you could intelligently say that Porter won or call it a draw. I just think all things considered (clean effective punching, amount of times Porter was staggered / almost went down / etc) Thurman deserved that win.

Thurman was head hunting all night, while Porter was jabbing occasionally and getting inside. I think the key was that Thurman didn’t let Porter corner him and trap him on the ropes. If Porter did what he did in round 8 more times, it could have won him more rounds, but the few times that happened, Thurman intelligently defended himself off the ropes and used his footwork to get the fight back into the center of the ring where he was better. Porter could have actually used the jab more because Thurman wasn’t jabbing that much and had Porter jabbed more he may have been able to keep Thurman from setting up countering. But Porter in my view was too predictable with his Joe Frazier style ducking down and going to the body and Thurman saw that coming and knew how to avoid it and counter Porter over and over.

How long you been watching boxing? two years?

to be the champ you have to BEAT the champ. Not edge it out, not a coin toss, BEAT THE CHAMP.

that didn't happen tonight.....and he was outboxed fair and square.

    Thurman 115-113 porter.

I just rewatched the first 8 rounds and have rounds 9-12 DVR’d. I thought Porter won the 8th round off that body shot, and I had that thought, but I thought Thurman recovered in the 9th and 10th, certainly by the 11th and 12th Thurman was doing well.

I had Porter up 5-2 or 6-1 after 7 so yeah 8-4 is plausible, Thurman had some good moments but Shawn controlled the tempo for long stretches and was the more aggressive and active fighter. I wouldn't call it a robbery but Porter to me won and Thurman looked like in his mind Porter won which is why he was quick to say rematch after.

LMAO, yea you just recently started watching boxing. Only casual fans say such stupid thing. Beat the champ convincingly in order to win. :rofl:patsch Now we know how you really score base on that criteria.

Well I think Thurman said rematch after because the crowd was booing. The crowd was booing because they were rooting for Porter. So Thurman was just trying to act like he could do this all night and he could do it again to Porter. (and who’s to say he couldn’t)

You’ve got to admit, Thurman’s stock rose tonight. Even though you think Porter won, I mean Thurman showed incredible punching power, skills and footwork timing Porter all night. And please respond to Porter going down in the 7th. Should that have been a knockdown? Watch it again if you can.

    No you newbs.

You do not score based on the champ gets to do nothing while the challenger has to beat him convincingly. Damn , where do you kids pop up from.
