CBS Thurman vs Porter viewers?

Yes. And every last one of them were watching television on CBS last night.

If it gets 3 million views, it will be considered wildly successful.

Fights on Showtime and HBO get one-third of that typically.

 

Well it was a awesome fight, so the more people tuned in, the better it is for boxing.

 

Thurman-Guerrero was the first PBC show, and it got PBC's top number of 4.2 million viewers. PBC of course has been on a nosedive since then. Considering PBC's recent numbers anything more 3 million would be a success, but much less than 2.5 considering what a great fight it was will show how much works still needs to go towards making boxing more accessible in the US.

 

The views are 2.4 million according to boxing scene, good views and more importantly is that people are interested in boxing because of how awesome of a fight was Thurman vs Porter

 

I think it was great for casuals and I'd like to see a rematch, but both of those guys looked very green I there. Thurman landed some nice counters, though. Despite my opinion that was a great fight for boxing.

Thurman is gonna be a household name thanks to these showcases on national television. I don't think he deserves that, at this point - not yet.

That seems pretty ****ty to me. HBO typically gets about 1 million and has how many subscribers in the US, less than 30 million? With well over 3 times more potential viewers why can't a show on CBS get more than twice the viewers? Even without building an audience for boxing from casual sports or TV viewers it shouldn't be hard to get 3 million regularly on network TV. Obviously we should hope we get way more matchups and fights like this and PBC gets more attention and can build up from here.

 

the number is around 2.5 mil. It's not that great but it shows where we are at the moment. Makes you think that 1 mil+ on premium channel is a hell of a number. In order to improve this, more fights like the one last night have to be made ( prime vs prime). I wish all the best to Haymon and hope he puts more good fights on free tv. Also I'm happy he and Bob Arum will work together. there are some good matchups between their stables. GB and ODLH will go down if they turn Canelo into the next Mayweather and waits, waits, waits for his foes to be out of prime. the mexicans are very proud of warrior style ( win or lose) and they wont buy that ish. We need prime vs prime to get boxing back up. And the money will follow

 

I think Haymon isn't doing a very good job marketing the shows, the fighters and their brand. I dont understand why

2.5 million? Ouch, Gaymon is done. Those aren't good numbers at all.

 

For such a high profile fight I was looking for at least 3 million.

 

Their highest rating was 4 million IIRC.

It was two elite, top 5 welterweights going at it on free television. 2.5 million is absolutely terrible. This isn't HBO. 2.5 million might be the highest rated boxing fight, but it's on free TV.

This is a small spike, but overall, the ratings just keep plummeting for PBC. It's because people aren't going to be boxing fans if you give them crumbs most of the time and then the good matchup every now and then.

PBC has the roster to keep shoveling out good fights on primetime, but instead, we get absolute drivel like Beterbiev vs. journeyman on ESPN.

 

I'm not in USA, but I imagine it can't help that nobody knows when or where to watch fights. PBC being divided over so many channels with seemingly no rhyme nor reason just seems silly.
