I don't blame him for going for the title.

Because he was defending a Middleweight Title so it had to be in the margin of Middleweight. (It had to be at a weight above 154)

Khan said he tried to get Canelo to agree to 153, but that would have been silly for a MW title to be defended at JR Middleweight. Khan wanted a shot at the Middleweight Title.

I’m happy that Canelo is back in his normal weight division, and has an opportunity to win another title at Jr Middleweight. This should be a very interesting fight, a lot of people are underrating Smith but I watched his last fight and he’s got really good power and quick hands. This should be a very tough test for Canelo.

Canelo and Golovkin aren't fighting. He's vacated his belt and left the division, you really can't get much clearer than that.

Cabelo had one and he gave it to GGG. Now GGG has 3 title.

Anybody who watches this fight from the U.K will alrdy know who Canelo is

Smith has a small fanbase, if Canelo thinks this will expose him to the U.K more than the fight with Khan did then he needs new advisors

Liam Smith is obviously not as popular as Khan, but he still offers exposure in GB, and EU and of course Canelo becomes a 4 time world champion at 154 and picks up bargaining chips by becoming world champion again resulting in more bargaining power against other fighters who bring more money to the table.

    Very smart move by Canelo.

Who brings more money to table than Canelo already? Thinking Smith brings more exposure after Khan is like thinking fighting Charlo brings in more exposure after Floyd. It doesn't.

Its not greater exposure.. Its more exposure. Its more Canelo talk in EU news, more photos, videos, highlights, and more of Canelo's name flashed around England where it otherwise would not had he fought Andrade instead.. Ya dig?

Then why not fight Saunders which would be a much bigger fight?

Does Smith bring more money than the Charlo's or a Lara rematch? Would he make for a better competitive fight? The answer to both seems to be no and they all just fought recently and as far as I know, none have a new fight lined up yet.

Is Canelo just scared of any legit competition at this point? Maybe he thinks he already took on a few fighters people said he would never fight and now he plans to coast the remainder of his career.
