You might not have been following the sport then, but DLH was the entire reason Floyd left Top Rank. He desperately wanted to fight Oscar and ol Bob didn't want it to happen. So, he left. DLH was basically a 154/small 160 at this point and Floyd still wanted it.

I already addressed Pac 2010, already gave you Margo. Cotto also didn't want it when he was with Top Rank, but I suppose I can concede that one too for S&G. I will also give you Williams. Is that it? Three fighters he avoided even though people on here claim he didn't take on any good fighters his entire career? Seems overblown if that's the case.

If that isn't the case, I ask again - Give me a list of all the great fighters Mayweather avoided who were both available and willing to fight and when it should have happened. I'll even give you Margo though I don't believe it to be a duck. Who else wanted it and when and who did Floyd fight instead?

You don't have to have power for people to prefer fighting someone else. Going in and getting outboxed and made to look the fool can be just as hurtful to some people. That said, you didn't answer my question before proposing one of your own:

I would love a list of all the great fighters Mayweather avoided who were both available and willing to fight and when it should have happened. I'll even give you Margo, Williams, and (maybe) 147 Cotto even though 140 Cotto wanted none of it. I'm not sure I would classify any of those as ducks as I don't recall any actual offers being put out or shut down by those men, but whatever, we can call them ducks for this experiment.

Now, who else (Williams, Margo aside) wanted to fight? When should it have happened and who did Floyd fight instead? People say he avoided top level fighters his whole career, so surely there are more than 2-3 names and this should be easy, right?

"dared to be great" fighters are the fighters that didn't play it safe.

these fighters didn't go around screaming "my health is important." these are the a-side or star fighters that took on fights where most knowledgeable boxing fans think they are going to lose.

    floyd isn't one of them.

In 2007 Mayweather was beating Oscar's ass and knocking out Ricky Hatton. Margarito was getting his ass waxed by Paul Williams. Floyd retired after the Hatton fight in Dec of 2007, took a year off and came back after JMM called him out and promptly schooled the little warrior. Paul Williams moved to super welter in 2008. Margarito had no cred or title. He wasn't worth the effort or time. Mayweather was moving forward and not backwards. Turns out to have been a good move because shortly thereafter he was busted for using loaded hand wraps. Mayweather was in the business of taking titles and that's what he continued to do, He made one stop for Mosley because he jumped his dumbass in the ring and got in a grown man's business. Mayweather beat that ass and then went and took Ortiz's newly awarded crown. Mayweather had a gameplan and he was headed to the top. Anybody who was in the way of that goal got beat. Don't hate on him because he knew what he wanted, and achieved it in grand fashion. By the way, he just made a statement that he has real estate holdings worth 1.2 billion dollors. That's BILLIONS. Can't wait until he goes broke. Hold yo breath.

Top prank was not willing to work with Floyd Mayweather when Cotto was looked as the second best welterweight in the world. Look at the years from '07 to '08. Cotto fought Zab Judah then Shane Mosely in Nov. Mayweather fought Oscar de la hoya then Ricky Hatton in Dec. After Cotto had beaten Mosley he was already being positioned to fight Margarito in the spring of '08 which was why both Cotto and Margarito were featured on the same card in Feb.'08.

Floyd had just gotten past Hatton and was negotiating a rematch with Oscar that fell through. He then retired. Cotto went on to fight Margarito and lost, so for people to say Mayweather ducked a "prime" Cotto at 147, those people are crazy. Paul Williams wasn't a duck either, as he only became relevant that year once he beat Margarito. I think he lost to Quintana the next year if I recall correctly talking about the years '07 and '08 respectively. This is just a short breakdown of where the 3 fighters were at in those years people actually think they could have fought.
