No , he is boxing at home. Selling the fight to a US market is of much greater importance. He is trying to sell PPV units. A British level Smith who nobody knows will not sell big on PPV , nor will it be on PPV in the UK.

Damn! Canelo has ***** of steel! I fear for his health going up against Liam "World Breaker" Smith. He sure proved us wrong and took on his toughest opponents yet. Smith's resume is sure on par with the best the boxing world has ever seen, unlike GGG who has fought nobody. I hope Canelo wins but I see very difficult. Fo' sure we will see a 1 billion PPV mark!

 

Business is not for everyone. It requires vision, the opposite of short-sightedness. GB is clearly a fast growing market, why not collect chips there and once Canelo KO GGG he can make for a big money fights against Saunders or any other top Euro name.

You actually believe a fight w/ 3G would happen before Saunders or anyone else at 160? No way man. This 154 fight with Smith pretty much tells us there's no 3G fight next year.

 

When it comes to Canelo, Golden Boy make every opponent sound better than they actually are. I have nothing against Liam Smith, but he won the WBO title against a nobody, is undefeated and hasn't fought anyone of note, that is why Golden Boy got in touch. It's all smoke and mirrors to dupe the fans. Its all BS.

I don't love this fight, but I'll put up with it if we get the GGG fight in 2017. Strip away the ridiculous post-Khan interview, and it's acceptable as a stay busy fight.

I'd have liked to see him take on one of the better PBC guys at 154, but I'm not surprised that didn't go through.
