According to latest WADA press conference small traces (1mcg) of meldonium found before 1st of October 2016 are deemed legal.

I guess that change a lot and Wilder is in trouble.

 

That's futher down the year I actually expected.

That stuff must stay in your system for quite some time then if that's the deadline. And that means that WBC don't have to stall with their ruling anymore, because there's a real WADA approved rule now.

Tbh id be slightly worried for all the posters on this site who said ridiculous things about povetkin. If the Russians fancied it they could sue them for defamation

 

Lots of silly things have been said by all sides. What was clear though was that Wilder didn't really want it and the WBC made a decision in haste.

Now where do we go from here? I think Wilder might offer AJ a unification fight. It'd generate a lot of money and he'd fancy his chances of landing a big shot on Joshua I reckon.

 

Thing is though this mandatory is now long overdue and the wbc had refused a martin vs wilder fight as they said he had to face povetkin.

Johshua has many options and he's own mandatory to worry about before January next year

I don't think they were warm to the idea of Martin being their champion but they may feel differently about having AJ as their belt holder. At the moment he brings the money and we all know how the WBC love a dollar generating champ.

The underlying problem in this entire scandal is the fact that he was caught JUICING after the ban date of January 1st. It has nothing to do with the amount, it has to do with the fact that he STILL did it despite the fact that the ban date had already been instated and he knew all about it.

Secondly, Wilder only listened to what the WBC said, the WBC cancelled the fight and therefore, he flew home. What else was he supposed to do?

The term juicing refers to anabolic steroids or human growth hormone. Meldonium is neither. Was it banned yes. Was it legal before the ban? yes. Do agencies at this point in time no how long it takes to leave system or if trace amounts can disappear and re-appear. No.

The fight will go on.

The case will be there, but it's a futile effort in trying to waste time. By the time this case "ends," Povetkin will be close to 38-39 years old with his best years behind him.

What he should do now is go another route or possibly get Wilder interested again. Not go down a bleak route with no sound resolution.

Last I checked he wasn't even banned. What a fool.

 

Well I'll agree or disagree on this statement after the WBC's official verdict in a week. It is true Povetkin is getting old and if this stalls out he should look elsewhere but if the WBC says the fight must happen next he should go for it. They did win the purse bid.
