the most rational argument for defending GGG's record

    He only fights fringe contenders, but then only fringe contenders want to try their luck against him. All of them know they lose to GGG so the divisions big guns feel they have too much to lose if they fought him, fringe contenders feel they have nothing to lose other than the fight.

    So no wonder his record isnt glittering. Its a real shame he gets so much grief just because he ply's his trade in a division full of chickens.

    He could of had Ward on his resume but he opted not to take the fight.

    He chose not to take the best opponent in the game when he had nothing but skid marks available to him.

    Thats the workings of a bum. Its like Hatton turning down Mayweather to go fight Paul McCloskey instead.

    The op's question puts ggg fanboys in a bind. There's no defending that resume, the main reason being he doesn't want to make good fights period so the excuses fall flat and he is playing the boxing politics game as hard as they accuse Mayweather of doing. Then these same fans diss Canelo because he wants to play that game. A loss to Ward would not have hurt ggg's money making potential or his legacy for that matter. Can't say ggg is for the fans if he robbed us of that legacy fight.
