Bigger underdog and career gamble. CEJ vs GGG or Khan vs Canelo?

He put a huge effort into round 3. At the start of 4 he was obviously conserving his energy. I'm not criticising his engine. No other fighter goes for the finish like him because you can't throw that many venomous punches without resting afterwards. The ring is a dangerous place to be needing a rest.
I don't think there is any evidence that Macklin was a far weaker puncher but I realise I said hits a lot harder which he doesn't.
Jr will need a pure granite chin as GGG does not simply bang without thinking about what is coming back.

 

Eubank winning would be more of a shock to me so Eubank is the bigger underdog imo. Khan unsurprisingly had some success and won some rounds. Eubank will likely win less rounds, have less succesd and get stopped just as qiickly.

 

khan was the bigger underdog, he moved up significantly in weight.

However neither really earned the shot they are getting, khan was unproven at that weight and eubank hasn't been able to prove himself close to world class in his division despite having years to try for it.

 

James that is simply wrong. CEJ does NOT hit hard enough to OK "anyone at 160".

Also GGG has plenty of one punch clean ko's...to head and to body...and with both hands too!

Come on James , you can do better than this surely......

 

When they actually fought, Khan boxed on level terms with Canelo in the ring on the night. It was a one punch ko, not a dazzling or dominant winning performance by Canelo at all, by no means...

Very unlikely that cej will trouble GGG at all if they meet. GGG is too good for him.

 

CEJ could pull this off, he is quick, slippery and may just have enough to totally throw GGG completely out of sorts.

I think he stands a better than average chance of winning the fight, like Senior said if he were to fight him he would beat him up and not box him.

Maybe jnr will do both, who knows but i certainly think it is not a foregone conclusion, especially if GGG comes into it casually.

You can't get ko'd to the body but you can sure quit like Macklin

KO= Knock Out (not Counted Out which is technically a Knock Out)

These guys have quit because they knew they were beaten before they got in the ring

 

If Blackwell was fighting GGG he would have been pulled far earlier and still had a career today. Some of these guys really believed they could beat CEJ so put their heart on the line. Blackwell might have still gone 12 if he didn't injure his eye he's a tough SOB.

I bet if he took that beating against GGG he would have taken a knee at some stage or had 2nd thoughts about continuing, GGG has the division shook.

CEJ isn't scared of no man though so he would take his beating like a man and go down swinging. If he can get up I have no doubts he will, the ref or the corner will need to stop it, he wont ever quit.

Watch this breakdown and see how scared Mack was, he was just getting a pay day for sure. The whole time he didn't want to even look at GGG he was bracing for the impact and flopped on the ground like he was hit by gun shot and his legs had gone.

He could have got up if his kids life depended on it, he was just a sitting duck. If he believed he could win he might have put it on GGG and the fight would have been more competitive.

Watch the video, he was a scared rabbit from start to finish. If you fight like that against a big puncher you will get hurt, even if he cracked a rib that was a way over the top flop. He quit and didn't want to be there from the start.

A novice Nick Blackwell went in to a fight with Martin Murray with cracked ribs and lasted twice as long as Mack did. That goes to show the difference in mental fortitude between the two.

 

Khan vs Canelo wasn't a career gamble at all, so I'm not sure what the question is. It was a cashout/payday because the Khan team now realises that there are no winnable fights for Khan at top-level anymore.

Wouldn't surprise me if Khan never has a meaningful win ever again

 

Anyone fighting triple G is on a career gamble.

 

In terms of underdog I would say Khan was as it was a higher weight and his chin was always going to be smashed.

In terms of career gamble CEJ. He's young and can go any route to become a world champion and forge nice career for himself and GGG could ruin him. Khan's career was finished already as he was always going to be toppled by a semi decent puncher no matter what weight it was in.
