Who did you think was going to win in 96? Holyfield or Tyson

    I sure thought that Tyson was going to win, and was shocked and profoundly impressed at how Holyfield rode out a few sort of rocky opening seconds to go on to dominate Mike.

    Agreed, and for the same reasons. Like just about everyone else outside of Ron Borges, I thought Holyfield would get wiped out.

    My heart wanted Holyfield but I had doubts.. I also feared for his health at that point. I'm glad my doubts were put to rest.

    I truly believe this was one of the great performances in history, no matter how people do or don't perceive this version of Tyson, or Holyfield for that matter. For me personally i go against the grain and rate it Holyfield's finest hour, ever. I think he looked fantastic.

    Tyson, obviously.

    By the end of the first round it seemed he was gonna walk through Holy like he did Bruno.

    Even going into the rematch I'm sure I'm not the only kid in town who believed the story about him not training fully for the fight and that he would destroy him in the rematch.

    I had Holyfield ever since the Dokes fight. Won about 2 large on Holyfield-Tyson I and II.

    Speaking of the rematch, can somebody explain this mythical amazing third round Tyson had? According to his fanatics it was the beginning of the end for Holyfield...

    All I see is Tyson coming off second best as usual after trying for the knockout, getting man handled by Evander, getting frustrated and trying to do his usual break the arm trick and then turning into Hannibal Lector......

    Absolutely, the fight imo was electric even if Holyfield had some spoiling tactics going on.

    Tyson to me looked lean, well defined and in superb shape.

    It was very obvious tho that he was quickly nullified and forced back into the same old dance as the first fight, one he could not win. He had a good start to the third round and landed a couple of good shots later but he was never close to detering Holyfield or looking like he could win for mine.

    Holyfield was just too good. He had Mike Tyson completely worked out, both mentally and physically.
