Vitali had the same notice as Lewis and in fact went to camp earlier.
    Prime Lewis demolishes the robot.

Against light hitting Byrd 34lbs lighter , whom he was leading on the score cards, he quit cold ,end of. He could have won the rest of the fight with his good arm ,as Danny Williams did fighting with a dislocated shoulder but he dogged it.

Yes, but Lewis was prepping for a 12 round match vs Kirk Johnson, Vitali was prepping for a 10 round match vs a nobody. Advantage Lewis.

Vitali made Lewis look bad and was up 4-2 on all score cards, and I'd argue he was pre-peak as he became a much better fighter years later.

Lewis as was we know " bottled " the re-match. He wanted no part of it. This was the one time his ego was held in check by his brains!

The Byrd fight was an injury. Since we've never seen Joe Louis fight with the same injury, one can only speculate how he'd do. With the same injury, I think Byrd out boxes Louis and takes a decision. With Vitali's injury, he was comfortably in the lead. Had the fight been for higher stakes, or had he known how the western press would react, one could speculate he'd risk further damage to win that fight.

PS: Regarding your point on 34 lbs lighter, Vitali would have an even greater weight advantage over Joe Louis. Good point McVey! Don't ya like how I use your own points and verbally jujutsu them to prove mine, or expose your numerous double standards? I must admit having some fun doing it.:D

Carnera had 65 lb advantage on Louis and got tossed around like an unwanted lunch. Carnera and Vitali are in the same category skill wise. Put two fights of theirs side by side and you can't tell the difference. Size means nothing. Mike Tyson had an entire career based around it. Vitali's career was against big guys who were used to being the bigger guy and tomato cans.

Vitali - stiff legged , low hands , poor defense. Louis is all wrong for him.

So the fact hat Lewis was training to fight a 6' 2" Johnson who fought nothing like Vitali was an advantage to him? Ok Thanks for that wisdom:patsch

Joe Louis could hit like few men can, and in fast combination
.Byrd was a defensive minded safety first non puncher again absolutely no comparison or similarity.

    SKOOOOOLED!:good

JU JUTSU??? You get worse ,if that's possible.:patsch

Vitali had no injury. Byrd made him quit on his stool. This is not debatable due to the fact he was back in training very soon after and fought again in that exact same year.

If that wasn't damming enough , he chose to have no part of Byrd for that fight:oops:

If Vitali was so concerned about what the media and the people were thinking , he would have dragged Byrd back into that ring to prove the first was no fluke. He had the rematch option after all.

    SKOOOOOLED!

Yep Marciano is the p4p goat and Galento is a close second. Sugar Ray Robinson, Harry Greb, Henry Armstrong, Roberto Duran, and Ezzard Charles were all chinny featherfisted bums. If you can't obviously see that then ydksab.
