I do find it funny how people think GGG would just be able blast Mayweather out of the ring.

That's just not possible vs Mayweather.

Floyd should call GGG's bluff and challenge him at 154. I'm not so sure GGG could make the weight and if he somehow did, he could be easy pickings. Considering the callouts by Golovkin, you'd have to give Floyd full credit too, regardless of the weight.

It would be a great match up though. Floyd would have to take GGG's jab away while also getting in close and letting his hands go. We all know Mayweather is capable of excellent work on the inside, as he showed against Hatton among others at 140 and under. Plus, GGG seems weakish on the backfoot and prefers to cover up and let his opponents finish throwing before he returns fire, which could help Floyd build up the points, his specialty.

The problem is that as Floyd moved later in to his career, he tended to prefer holding over letting his hands go. Typically single shots followed by a hold before looking to separate, reset, and do it all over again. It's smart I guess, but I'm not sure it would work against GGG for 12 rounds.

I think Mayweather is legit retired though so this fight never happens.

Floyd loves to control his fights from a distance....would be very hard to try that tactic with Golovkin....and anyway the Fight will never happen Floyd is not that stupid.!!!!

 

Triple G would murder Floyd. now if they were naturally the same size (roughly) AND Floyd was in his prime, then it would indeed be interesting.

floyd, froch, canelo and cotto are too rich and not stupid enough to risk their lives in the ring against Triple G. canelo however may talk himself into it someday, given all the grief he's taken for ducking (even from his own countrymen).

Interesting from Roach. My opinion is that Golovkin gets mostly outboxed but will catch Floyd frequently enough to wear him down and KO him.

GGG is too big, and besides Floyd is 39 and not as good as his younger self. If GGG can make 154 without killing himself, he'd be a huge favourite.
