Poor Julius Jackson, like his father and brother before him, has recently proven to have an equally atrocious mandible, he was flopping all over the place last year against Korobov victim Jose Uzcategui, he gave his best Umberto Savigne impression dancing a jig from one end of the ring to the other for 2 whole rounds, finally Weeks mercifully waved it off after he went down several times. But there's hope.... unlike Julian and John, he wasn't KO'd cold, so that could mean either Uzcategui doesn't hit that hard or his chin isn't quite as defective as theirs. Well its going to be tested again on July 12th when he steps in the ring with Ronald "Akeem" Ellis, sure he's blitzed through several tin cans with relative ease, but he ran into a roadblock a few months ago when facing Jerry Odom. Odom who was recently brutally exposed on ShoBox by the fairly heavy handed American Light Heavyweight/Super Middleweight Samuel Clarkson, he was KO'd in 2, so Odom was brought in as an easy KO victim for Ellis, and while he rocked Odom several times early, he never had quite enough pop to lay his ass out. Odom kept coming and countering and took about 4 or the 8 rounds, finishing the stronger fighter, meanwhile Ellis was bizarrely showboating to the judges and audiences like he'd just put on some kind of masterclass, the match ended rightfully in a draw. Now these two will get it on, both coming off of lackluster performances, one trying to save his career, the other trying to keep it from skidding off the tracks, will the Jackson chin give out once again, or will Ellis who looked a tad bit chinny against Odom be felled by a patented Jackson bomb? This one could be damn fun to watch, for however long it lasts.
Nice little crossroads fight. I would disagree with the "Odom brought in as a KO victim" angle though. Odom was upset by a guy who came in overweight. Odom Ellis was basically set up as 2 prospects going at it
I don't see it that way, most of the time when one guy loses, he's instantaneously cast aside and fed to someone the promoter thinks has a more promising upside, prospects with a KO loss on their record quickly become expendable.
I can't wait for it either, I think Julius is going to redeem himself, Ellis doesn't hit all that hard and I don't se a hell of a lot of potential in him, hopefully the Uzcategui match was just a Jack-Edwards like hiccup for Jackson.
I really like Julius, he is a nice hardworking guy, i hope he gets the win, but i believe John is better.
